About the Role

The Team leader is required for a six-month duration as of June 2025. The contract as Project Implementation Consultant was awarded to Egis in 2020.  The scope includes the supervision of various contracts related to the modernization of the Colombo Suburban Rail lines under an ADB loan, namely the upgrade of the ticketing system, upgrade of telecommunications, creation of the OCC building, and creation of several underpasses to eliminate the at level crossings and increase the safety.

The International Team Leader manages and leads project teams, ensuring team coordination, production quality, and timely delivery of the outputs, but also acting as contract manager and taking care of clients’ relationship.

  • Prepare Project Management Plan (PMP) including task assignment and work schedule of project team/s
  • Organize and supervise the preparation of all deliverables with the project team, coordination of input and output
  • Ensure quality of all deliverables and delivery in a timely manner
  • Liaise with the client and the financing agency (as applicable)
  • Supervise correct application of the PMP by the project team, ensure overall management and administration of the contract including financial management (supervision of invoicing, follow up cash recovery)
  • Report to the client on work progress or supervise project reporting, internally prepare the quarterly project reviews
  • Support, and if required, lead the preparation of commercial proposal, technical and / or financial, assist in contract negotiation and signing
  • Provide technical expertise according to the project requirements
  • Maintain positive and trust-based relations with the management team, business partners, and staff members
  • Assess, manage, and resolve problematic developments and situations in coordination with the Director
  • Ensure that interfaces management are performed as per requirements and in accordance to Egis Standards.

What do we need from you

  • Professionally qualified Engineer with Bachelor Degree in Civil\Railway Engineering or related areas

To meet our client requirements:

  • Minimum 15 years of experience
  • 10 years of experience in Transport/Railway projects, 5 years of which on rail operation projects in the capacity of Project Management/Contract Management, preferred
  • At least 3 projects outside of home country
  • At least 2 projects with ADB (Asian Development Bank) or other IFI, preferably under the position of Team Leader
