The Senior Scheduler leads the planning, development, and management of integrated project schedules for complex, large-scale capital projects in Toronto, Ontario. Working closely with project management, engineering, construction, and project controls teams, the role provides critical schedule analysis, performance insights, and forecasting to support informed decision-making and successful project delivery.
The position requires expertise in schedule development, critical path analysis, progress measurement, forecasting, and Earned Value Management (EVM). Working within a multidisciplinary project environment, the role ensures alignment between scope, schedule, and cost while supporting risk identification, change management, and executive reporting.
The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience scheduling major capital projects and demonstrates strong proficiency in project controls methodologies, stakeholder coordination, performance reporting, and schedule optimization across engineering, construction, industrial, infrastructure, or energy-related projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain integrated project schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, and established project controls methodologies.
- Establish schedule baselines and coordinate schedule development activities with project managers, engineering teams, and key stakeholders.
- Apply Earned Value Management (EVM) principles to measure project performance against approved scope, cost, and schedule baselines.
- Analyze earned value metrics including CPI, SPI, and EAC to support forecasting, variance analysis, and performance reporting.
- Monitor project progress through regular schedule updates, identifying deviations, delays, and emerging risks.
- Facilitate stakeholder coordination to gather project data, resolve scheduling conflicts, and maintain dependency alignment across workstreams.
- Conduct schedule risk management activities and recommend mitigation strategies to address potential bottlenecks and delays.
- Perform critical path analysis and monitor milestone achievement to support timely project delivery.
- Prepare and present detailed project controls reports outlining schedule performance, milestone status, forecast completion dates, and schedule health.
- Evaluate the schedule impacts of change management activities and ensure approved changes are accurately reflected in project timelines.
- Develop short-term and long-term project forecasting reports, including look-ahead schedules and progress tracking updates.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to schedule management, project controls processes, and performance reporting.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of project scheduling experience, including at least 3 years in a senior scheduling capacity on large and complex projects.
- Demonstrated experience developing and managing detailed schedules for major capital, engineering, construction, manufacturing, industrial, energy, or technology projects.
- Proficiency with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
- Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) methodologies and performance measurement techniques.
- Experience performing critical path analysis, schedule forecasting, progress measurement, and variance analysis.
- Proven ability to prepare executive-level project controls reports and communicate schedule performance to senior stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of schedule baseline management, resource planning, and project lifecycle controls.
Assets
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP) certification.
- Experience supporting large multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
- Exposure to portfolio-level scheduling and integrated project controls environments.
- Experience implementing schedule risk analysis methodologies.
- Knowledge of advanced project performance analytics and dashboard reporting tools.
