About the Role

As a Senior Consultant (Systems Engineer) within the Egis Advisory business, you will be responsible for providing consultancy, design and engineering solutions, as well as policy and strategy evaluation for Defence projects. Your input will improve the efficiency and safety of operations. You will see projects through the entire lifecycle, including bid preparation, to ensure client expectations are satisfied.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Support and lead a range of projects involving analytical and technical skills in one or more operating areas as directed by the Defence Lead
  • Act as subject matter expert and provide technical advice to clients in relation to on-going projects as they progress through lifecycle phases
  • Lead and manage a small team of project engineers, consultants, admin staff etc
  • Management of project financials to ensure project is progressing within the client’s budget
  • Identify potential opportunities consistent with the broader Egis strategy to contribute to business development activities within the Defence sector
  • Assist and support preparation of proposals as required
  • Supervise, mentor and support junior Consultants, as required

What do we need from you

Ideally, you will have demonstrated experience in a similar role within a matrix consultancy environment. In addition, you will also have:

  • Current (or ability to obtain) an Australian Government Security Clearance (minimum Baseline level).
  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Systems Safety, Systems Engineering, Safety Assurance or a similar relevant degree.
  • Demonstrated expertise in a Systems Engineering role within a defence, rail, aviation or similar environment.
  • Expertise in full-life cycle project management of complex medium to large scale projects within defence, rail, aviation or equivalent public sector roles.
  • Significant expertise with integrated logistics support (ILS) highly desired.
  • Demonstrated technical safety and risk assessment skills, inclusive of hazard identification and safety argument project techniques (i.e. GSN).
  • Proven experience in the management and delivery of projects with demonstrable evident of having applied systems techniques to maintain and improve project performance within a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Australian standards and guidelines and ability to adhere to industry best practices.
  • Excellent client relationship management skill as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills.
