About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chargehand to join our team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. As a Chargehand, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the activities of a work crew, ensuring efficient operations, maintaining safety standards, and delivering high-quality results.
- Supervise and lead a team of workers, assigning tasks and providing guidance as needed
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and protocols, including local UAE work standards
- Oversee the proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and materials
- Coordinate with other departments or supervisors to plan and execute work efficiently
- Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks to promote a safe work environment
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications
- Resolve any issues or conflicts that arise on the job site promptly and effectively
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and team performance
- Participate in hands-on work as required, demonstrating tasks and supporting the team
- Monitor and report on project progress to management
- Ensure proper storage and inventory management of tools and equipment
- Collaborate with other team leaders to optimize overall productivity and resource allocation
What do we need from you
- Proven experience as a Chargehand, Team Leader, or in a similar supervisory role
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Thorough knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the industry
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, or technical instructions
- Proficiency in problem-solving and decision-making
- Physical fitness and capability to perform manual labor when necessary
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training is a plus
- Relevant safety certifications (e.g., OSHA or equivalent UAE standards) are highly desirable
- Familiarity with construction or manufacturing processes, depending on the specific industry
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and reporting
- Strong time management and organizational abilities
- Adaptability to changing work conditions and priorities
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is a plus
- Familiarity with UAE labor laws and work regulations is advantageous
