About the Role

Working closely with the Transportation Leader - NZ, your primary focus will be on the leadership of our Wellington based Transport team. This position encompasses a blend of project execution and oversight, design leadership as well as fostering business growth and nurturing client relationships. 

What you’ll do:

  • Lead and/or undertake the delivery of transport infrastructure projects for key clients across the private and public sectors.
  • Provide technical expertise, advice and oversight through all stages of the project lifecycle from feasibility studies, business cases, design strategies, developed designs, and construction.
  • Develop detailed designs using modelling software and AutoCAD when required.
  • Review and sign off on engineering and technical outputs such as technical option reports, engineering principles & studies, detail designs and test procedures, etc. to ensure compliance to relevant standards.
  • Manage project work technically and contractually to ensure that it meets technical requirements.
  • Manage the successful delivery of concurrent projects through the different stages of the project lifecycle, including scope, resource and financial management
  • Lead a team of engineers and technicians, providing technical advice and direction to all employee levels through technical challenges and issues.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to engage and work collaboratively with colleagues from other disciplines and Business Unit’s across Egis Group
  • Build and maintain strong external client relationships and contribute to the strategic growth of the roads sector by identifying and securing related business opportunities with key and emerging clients

What do we need from you

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have 10+ years' professional experience in providing exceptional technical expertise in major roads and highways projects within a consultancy environment. You will also have proven people leadership skills, passion and dedication to the growth and development of your team.

In addition to the above, you will also:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil or Transport Engineering
  • CPEng highly desired (or willingness to obtain)
  • Relevant work rights to live and work in NZ
  • Strong working knowledge of NZTA and Austroads guidelines and specifications
  • Strong background in traffic engineering, transport planning, and design
  • Proven design leadership capabilities and broader people leadership ability
  • Demonstrated experience working and advising on public and/or private sector projects
  • Proven project management skills across full life cycle of projects
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to communicate with stakeholders at all levels 
  • Well-developed critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • An encouraging attitude towards helping to develop members of the team as well as drive to grow your own career
