About Us

At Egis, we help shape the infrastructure that keeps communities connected and moving. As a leading global consulting, construction engineering and operating firm, we work with clients across transport, energy and the built environment to create a more balanced, sustainable and resilient world.

With more than 50 years of experience and around 25,500 people in over 70 countries, we combine global expertise with a people-first culture. In the UK and Ireland, our teams deliver and operate some of the country’s most important infrastructure, including highways, rail, energy, water and smart infrastructure, while supporting climate-responsible growth for communities, industry and the planet.

About the Role

We are looking for a UK&I Accounting and Shared Services Director to lead our accounting, financial control and shared services activities across the UK and Ireland.

Reporting to the UK&I CFO and operating as a key member of the Finance Leadership Team, you will set the strategic direction for accounting and shared services while ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong governance, statutory compliance and effective transactional finance operations.

You will lead multidisciplinary finance teams across multiple locations and drive greater consistency, efficiency and service quality through process standardisation, automation and continuous improvement.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and delivering the UK&I accounting and shared services strategy
  • Leading general ledger, fixed assets, intercompany accounting, financial reporting and period-end close activities
  • Maintaining a robust financial control environment and ensuring compliance with UK and Irish statutory requirements
  • Leading Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing, Credit Control, Tax and other transactional finance teams
  • Establishing and monitoring SLAs and operational KPIs across shared services
  • Improving cash collection, aged debt, balance sheet integrity and working-capital performance
  • Leading finance transformation, process improvement and digitalisation initiatives
  • Improving the use of ERP systems, automation and finance technology
  • Partnering with senior business leaders to provide financial insight, challenge and recommendations
  • Supporting acquisitions, integrations and wider organisational growth
  • Building a high-performing finance organisation through clear accountability, talent development and succession planning

What do we need from you

You will be a qualified accountant — ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent — with significant senior leadership experience across accounting, financial control, finance operations or shared services.

You will have a strong technical accounting and financial reporting background, together with experience of leading large, multidisciplinary teams within a complex, multi-site organisation.

You will also bring proven experience of strengthening governance and compliance, leading finance transformation or process-improvement programmes, and influencing senior stakeholders. A strong understanding of ERP systems and finance technology is essential.

Experience within engineering, infrastructure, construction, consultancy or professional services would be advantageous. Experience of shared service centre transformation, UK and Irish statutory reporting, acquisitions or integrations, and Oracle or a similar enterprise finance platform would also be beneficial.

What's in it for you?

This is a senior leadership opportunity to shape a critical part of the UK&I finance operating model, lead meaningful transformation and make a visible contribution to the performance and growth of an international organisation.

If you require reasonable adjustments at any stage of the recruitment process, please let us know.
