About the Role

Bachelor's/Master’s Degree in Mechanical recognized institution with relevant exp in middle east Projects

8-10 years of experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Analysis:

  • Develop and optimize tunnel ventilation systems, ensuring compliance with HVAC and FLS standards.

  • Perform CFD analysis for smoke control, air distribution, and pollutant dispersion within tunnel environments.

  • Ensure designs adhere to regulatory requirements and international safety standards.

  • Project Management:

  • Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to design and implement ventilation and safety systems for various tunnel types (road, rail, utility).

  • Conduct project-specific risk assessments and hazard analysis to validate ventilation designs.

  • Prepare technical documentation and reports, including ventilation strategies, compliance assessments, and safety analyses.

  • Technical Expertise:

  • Apply best practices in tunnel ventilation, including longitudinal, transverse, and semi-transverse systems.

  • Use CFD software (e.g., ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, or similar) to simulate and analyze airflow and thermal conditions under various operational scenarios.

  • Assess environmental impacts of ventilation systems, focusing on energy efficiency and emissions control.

  • Field and Site Support:

  • Participate in on-site inspections and field tests to validate CFD model results and assess ventilation performance.

  • Work closely with construction teams during implementation phases to ensure design compliance and address engineering challenges.

  • Coordination and Collaboration:

  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams, including civil, structural, and electrical engineers, to integrate ventilation systems within overall tunnel design.

  • Engage with fire safety experts and local regulatory bodies for design approvals and compliance reviews.

  • Reporting and Documentation:

  • Develop detailed technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

  • Document lessons learned and contributed to knowledge sharing and technical improvements for future projects.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, HVAC, or a related field. Master’s degree or specialization in tunnel ventilation is a plus.

  • Experience: 8-10 years in HVAC and FLS engineering, with a focus on tunnel ventilation and safety systems.

  • Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in CFD software and analysis methods relevant to HVAC and ventilation.

  • Familiarity with industry standards (e.g., NFPA 502, ASHRAE guidelines, PIARC, and EU guidelines for tunnel ventilation).

  • Experience with KSA regulations and regional projects is highly preferred.

  • Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities, especially in multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural settings.
