Tunnel & Underground Structures Construction & Logistics Expert

Egis with its local partner (altogether called METAV) have been appointed as Network Manager, to work closely with the client in managing the planning, design and construction of 3 new underground metro lines in Tel Aviv. The 3 new metro lines will total 150km  fully underground and 109 underground metro stations to serve 24 municipalities. Key figures:

• First stage Operational in 2034.
• Estimated 2 million passengers per day will benefit from the new metro network.
• €50bn estimated cost.
• Benefits to Tel Aviv: 30% increase in public transport use and €8bn in economic benefits to the local economy.

Egis is hiring a Construction & Logistics Lead for Civils and Tunnel works to join the METAV team which has a key role in the design and planning of the entire metro network across all disciplines. This is a unique opportunity to deliver a major project across all phases: design, construction until operation.

• Serve as the Programme’s technical and professional expert for construction and logistics planning aspects on behalf of the Owner in the development of design.
• Provide a constructability evaluation of the designs developed by others, identifying the suitability of the solutions proposed and any alternatives, cost/schedule implications and risks/opportunities.
• Analyse construction sequences, methods and equipment, providing an evaluation of viability, suitability and alignment with scheduling.
• Monitor construction and logistics planning across the three lines and multiple construction/installation packages.
• Identify overlaps and integration issues between the Lines and Contract packages and assist the development of logistics plans to mitigate the impacts and support efficient construction across the metropolitan region.
• Support the identification, development and implementation of innovative construction methods to align with environmental impact and sustainability goals.

The candidate should be/have:

• Senior engineer with at least 15 years’ experience in major infrastructure/transportation projects, especially urban mass-transit schemes.
• Experience in the construction and logistics planning of underground mass-transit structures including stations (Cut & Cover, mined, etc), tunnels (TBM and Cut &Cover), shafts, junction boxes, highways, depot buildings, at grade structures, etc.
• Involvement throughout the project lifecycle, but especially in the early stages of project development, including option identification / evaluation and value engineering, is desirable.
• Experience in the identification, development and/or adoption of innovative construction methods, sequences and equipment is an advantage
• Experience of working from the Client’s perspective or in an advisory / consulting role is highly desirable.
• Bachelors or Masters degree in civil or structural engineering.
