About the Role

We’re looking for Intermediate to Senior Transport Engineers and Designers to join our growing Aotearoa Transport Team. With opportunities across transport design, engineering, project delivery and technical leadership, these roles offer the chance to work on meaningful infrastructure projects that shape how people move across Aotearoa.

In these roles, you will contribute to the delivery of high‑quality, design‑focused transport projects, with a particular focus on urban infrastructure, roads, intersections, active modes and public transport infrastructure. You’ll work as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, applying strong technical capability to develop safe, efficient and practical transport solutions.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced transport professionals who bring expertise in transport design, traffic engineering and/or project delivery, and who are looking to grow their impact through technically challenging work and increased responsibility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to the delivery of technical robust transport solutions for a range of projects, ensuring outcomes meet programme, budget and quality expectations
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, associated reports, specifications and schedules related to a wide range of transport projects.
  • Apply best practice guidance and champion initiatives to improve user safety in alignment and adherence to safety in design practices and standards.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver well integrated solutions that consider key users and stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients within the transportation community locally and nationally.
  • Actively participate in knowledge transfer and mentoring for junior staff.

What do we need from you

These roles are suited to experienced professionals with a proven background in transport engineering or transport design.

Ideally, you will have:

  • Proven experience delivering transport engineering and/or transport design outputs in line with New Zealand standards and best practice
  • Technical qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent engineering qualification
  • Ability to analyse and interpret transport engineering problems using sound theoretical knowledge
  • Strong working knowledge of Waka Kotahi (NZTA) and local government transport guidelines, standards and specifications
  • Experience in the use of design packages such as AutoCAD, 3D design software such as OpenRoads, Civil 3D or 12d (GIS experience is advantageous)
  • Full New Zealand driver’s license with the ability to travel to site as and when needed.
  • Strong self-management skills and the ability to work effectively with limited supervision
  • Effective communication skills with ability to work with a diverse range of internal and eternal stakeholders.
