Egis with its partner Gadish (altogether called METAV) have been appointed as Network Manager in 2022, to work closely with the client, National Transport Authority, in managing the planning, design and construction of 3 new underground metro lines in Tel Aviv and the Gush Dan region. The 3 new metro lines will total 150km and 109 underground metro stations to serve 24 municipalities. Key figures:
- Estimated 2 million passengers per day will benefit from the new metro network.
- €50bn estimated cost.
- Benefits to Tel Aviv Area : 30% increase in public transport use and €8bn in economic benefits to the local economy.
- Serve as the Programme’s technical and professional expert for the Tunnel & Underground Structure aspects on behalf of the Owner in the management and approval process of the Programme’s design deliverables.
- Provide technical evaluation of the designs developed by the Line Mangers and others, identifying the suitability of the solutions proposed and any alternatives, cost/schedule implications and risks/opportunities.
- Ensure alignment of the tunnel aspects of the programme with Operations & Maintenance and Railway System requirements.
- Responsible for the maintenance of the tunneling and related aspects of the Metro Design Standards Manual (MDSM), based on international engineering best practices and with reference to the Owner’s policies and requirements, all applicable Laws, the applicable design standards in force in Israel and relevant international design standards.
- Responsible for the maintenance of the Tunneling aspects of the “Design Task Guide”
- Monitor the implementation of and adherence to the MDSM, the Design Management Procedures and Design Task Guide by the Line Managers, the Network designers, the Line designers and all other Programme participants for the Civil & Structural aspects.
The candidate should be/have:
- Senior engineer with at least 15 years’ experience in major mass-transit infrastructure / transportation projects.
- Experience in the design, construction and/or supervision of underground mass-transit structures including tunnels and underground structures (TBM and mined), shafts, junction boxes, etc.
- Involvement in the early stages of project development, including option identification / evaluation and value engineering is essential.
- Experience of working from the Client’s perspective is desirable.
- Bachelor’s or Masters degree in civil engineering.
