About the Role

About the Role

Egis is recruiting a Technical Director – MEP to lead design delivery across a 60-strong MEP team, operating across high-profile projects in the UAE and wider MESA region. Reporting to the Regional MEP Director, this is a senior technical and leadership role with full accountability for design quality, team performance, and client satisfaction across a geographically distributed team spanning the UAE, KSA, Egypt, Jordan, and India.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead MEP technical delivery across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring design quality, programme, and commercial performance
  • Manage and coordinate a distributed team across five countries — UAE, KSA, Egypt, Jordan, and India — maintaining consistent technical standards and delivery quality across all offices
  • Define and implement design processes, calculation standards, specifications, and reporting frameworks
  • Own the QA/QC function — validate deliverables, embed lessons learned, and drive continuous improvement
  • Line manage Associate Directors and senior staff; mentor the wider team
  • Develop and maintain client relationships; act as point of contact for technical dispute resolution
  • Support the Regional Director on bids, fee negotiations, recruitment, and business strategy
  • Identify training needs and define T&D programmes across the team
  • Contribute to business planning and strategic positioning

What do we need from you

Profile

  • MEng / MSc in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering discipline
  • Chartered Engineer (CIBSE, IET, or equivalent)
  • Minimum 18 years' experience in MEP consultancy, with significant UAE / GCC exposure
  • Proven track record leading large multidisciplinary MEP teams (40+ staff), ideally across multiple geographies or office locations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cross-cultural teams remotely, maintaining output quality and team cohesion across different time zones and working environments
  • Strong commercial acumen — fee management, variation control, profitability
  • Excellent client-facing and presentation skills
  • Experienced in high-profile project typologies: mixed-use, hospitality, data centres, infrastructure
