The Senior Site Supervision Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of construction activities for an aviation-related project including contractor oversight, site coordination, progress monitoring, quality control, and ensuring that works are delivered safely, on time, and in accordance with approved designs, specifications, and project requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a Civil Engineering or Architecture background, with proven experience in aviation projects and complex construction environments, preferably including airside facilities and infrastructure.
The Senior Site Supervision Engineer is responsible for overseeing site construction operations, ensuring that all civil, structural, architectural, and related building works are executed in strict compliance with approved design drawings, project specifications, quality standards, and scheduled timelines.
This role provides technical leadership on-site, manages contractor execution, and ensures seamless coordination across Civil, Structural, Architectural, and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) disciplines, while working in close partnership with dedicated project safety (HSE) and quality (QA/QC) teams.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and oversee day-to-day construction activities, acting as the Client/Consultant’s primary site representative.
• Manage and coordinate the Contractor’s site activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, project requirements, and applicable standards.
• Monitor construction progress and performance against the approved project schedule, identifying delays, risks, and required corrective actions.
• Coordinate construction activities across multiple disciplines and interfaces, ensuring effective sequencing and minimizing conflicts.
• Review and provide technical input on shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, RFIs, technical submissions, and other construction documentation.
• Conduct regular site inspections and monitor workmanship, materials, testing, and installation to ensure compliance with quality requirements.
• Coordinate closely with the Contractor, Client, consultants, airport stakeholders, authorities, and other project stakeholders.
• Identify construction issues, design discrepancies, and constructability concerns and coordinate timely resolution.
• Review and follow up on RFIs, NCRs, site instructions, technical queries, and corrective actions.
• Monitor and verify reported construction progress and provide input for progress reports and payment assessments.
• Participate in progress, coordination, technical, and construction meetings and lead site-level discussions as required.
• Maintain comprehensive records of site activities, inspections, instructions, progress, and outstanding works.
• Support the assessment and management of variations, claims, delays, and other contractual matters.
• Coordinate testing, commissioning, inspections, snagging, and handover activities.
• Monitor the preparation and submission of as-built drawings, O&M manuals, test records, and other closeout documentation.
• Ensure that construction activities are properly planned and coordinated to meet project milestones and operational requirements.
• Provide regular updates to the Project Manager on construction progress, key risks, issues, and required decisions.
• Collaborate closely with the HSE Manager and HSE team to ensure construction activities align with the project’s health, safety, and environmental plan.
• Support the HSE team during site walks by identifying potential engineering/structural hazards and backing HSE enforcement on safe work practices.
• Prepare detailed daily, weekly, and monthly site progress reports covering completed activities, equipment and manpower counts, site conditions, and critical issues.
• Participate in regular progress and coordination meetings with client representatives, design consultants, and contractor management teams.
• Assist the Project management in evaluating contractor monthly progress payment applications, site instructions, and technical variation requests.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Architecture, or related field.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant construction and site supervision experience, preferably on major and complex projects.
• Proven track record of successful project delivery in large-scale construction projects.
• Proven experience working on aviation/airport projects is required.
• Demonstrated experience in a Construction Management and Site Management capacity, including direct oversight of contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, quality management, HSE requirements, and project controls.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, project specifications, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Sound working knowledge of MEP systems and interdisciplinary coordination, ensuring civil/structural works align seamlessly with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression installations and other systems.
• Familiarity with local building codes and regulations in Saudi Arabia
• Strong familiarity with international codes and quality control standards.
• Solid understanding of aviation facility technical standards and local civil aviation regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency in using site management tools, Revit, CAD software (AutoCAD), document control platforms (Aconex), and MS Office.
• Strong leadership, conflict-resolution, and site coordination skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic language skills are a plus.
• Excellent communication, coordination, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple contractors, interfaces, and priorities within a demanding project environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach
• Understanding of sustainable construction practices and their application within project delivery.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
