We are seeking an experienced Socio-Economic Specialist to lead socio-economic assessments, stakeholder engagement activities, and public consultation programs for environmental, infrastructure, energy, and development projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for evaluating social and economic impacts, conducting stakeholder engagement initiatives, managing public opinion surveys, and providing strategic recommendations to support sustainable project development and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct socio-economic baseline studies and impact assessments for development, infrastructure, environmental, and industrial projects.
- Design and implement stakeholder engagement strategies to support project planning, development, and implementation.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate stakeholder consultations, focus group discussions, community meetings, and public forums.
- Develop and administer public opinion surveys, perception studies, and social research initiatives.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative socio-economic data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and community concerns.
- Assess potential social and economic impacts of proposed projects on local communities and affected stakeholders.
- Prepare stakeholder mapping, social risk assessments, and community impact analyses.
- Develop mitigation measures and community development strategies to address identified social impacts.
- Prepare technical reports, socio-economic assessments, survey reports, stakeholder engagement plans, and public consultation documentation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate socio-economic considerations into project design and decision-making.
- Support regulatory compliance and permitting requirements related to stakeholder engagement and social impact assessments.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with government agencies, local communities, non-government organizations, and other key stakeholders.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of stakeholder engagement programs and recommend improvements where necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Economics, Social Sciences, Community Development, Public Policy, Development Studies, Anthropology, Environmental Planning, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in socio-economic assessment, stakeholder engagement, and public opinion survey implementation.
- Demonstrated experience conducting stakeholder consultations, community engagement programs, and public participation initiatives.
- Experience designing, managing, and analyzing public opinion surveys and socio-economic research studies.
- Strong understanding of social impact assessment methodologies and stakeholder engagement best practices.
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative data analysis techniques.
- Experience preparing technical reports, presentations, and stakeholder engagement documentation.
- Strong communication, facilitation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholder groups, including government agencies, local communities, and private sector organizations.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
