As a member of our URD team, you will be responsible for delivering detailed design and documentation for a range of projects within the Infrastructure sector.
As a URD Designer, you will be responsible for leading the design and documentation of plans for projects including:
- Subdivisions
- Public Lighting
- Large Customer Connections (LCCs)
- NBN Pit and Pipe
- Authority relocations – Electrical, Communications & Gas.
You will be responsible for ensuring that designs are delivered on time and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with our clients, project managers, and other members of the team to ensure that all project requirements are met from start to finish.
Role responsibilities:
- Undertake electrical engineering design services in accordance with the applicable standards, project scope of works and project specifications.
- Communicate with developers and gather required information to carry out fee calculations.
- Prepare and submit works plans, council approvals and relevant applications as necessary.
- Facilitate the receipt of supply agreements and certificates of supply as necessary.
- Coordination with other services and architectural features.
- Attendance at design coordination meetings and on-site construction meetings as required.
- Complete and maintain all safety in design documentation.
- Provide construction stage technical support including reviewing tenders and certifying claims.
- Request as constructed documentation and facilitate return of Energex bond.
- Provide assistance in the training and development of employees.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in Energex design and Infrastructure.
- Qualifications in Electrical Engineering and experience in the Electrical Supply Industry including a working knowledge of Overhead/Underground distribution and/or transmission mains.
- Experience or knowledge of the design of electrical systems such as substation layout, switch room design, earthing design, transformer bay design, lightning protection system etc.
- Experience in engineering calculations such as maximum demand, cable sizing, transformer rating, switchboard rating, motor starter rating, CT & VT rating, protection settings etc.
- Strong technical knowledge of URD design principles and practices
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, IEC standards and Industry standards.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe, Excel, and Microsoft Office suite
- Excellent Communications skills
- Proven leadership ability
