About the Role

As a Senior Transportation Technologist, you will play a vital role in the planning, design, and construction of highways, roadways and municipal designs that form the backbone of our infrastructure systems. Your expertise in civil and municipal engineering principles, materials science, and project management enables you to contribute to the safe, efficient, and sustainable development of transportation networks. From conceptual design to final inspection, you are responsible for ensuring conformity to established design practices and standards while meeting regulatory standards and project requirements.

  • Prepare budgets and schedules, plan the work, and provide technical direction and oversight.
  • Manage project teams, control project budgets and schedules, and quality control of deliverables.
  • Complete conceptual designs, preliminary engineering and detailed design activities and deliverables.
  • Perform technical reviews of work prepared by colleagues for quality assurance purposes.
  • Provide assistance in the support and development of transportation design staff.
  • Assist team leadership with growing the Western Canada Infrastructure group and pursing new business opportunities and clients.
  • Prepare and review cost estimates, specifications, tender documents, and reports.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other engineering disciplines including structural, geotechnical, environmental, drainage, and electrical.
  • Provide construction administration liaison and complete construction supervision and site inspections on an as-needed basis.
  • Maintain positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 


What do we need from you

  • Completion of technical diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or an equivalent program.
  • Licensed as a Professional Licensee (P.L.(Eng.)) with APEGA or Professional Technologist (P.Tech.(Eng.)) with ASET, or capable of obtaining designation.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive consulting experience completing transportation projects for Alberta Transportation & Economic Corridors or Municipal clients.
  • Demonstrated experience with Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors design guidelines and construction specifications.
  • Demonstration of expertise in the use of AutoCAD and Civil 3D software, including developments of surfaces, corridors, typical cross sections, survey file preparation.
  • Experience with Survey processing software and LIDAR point cloud processing would be considered a strong asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong mentoring skills of junior and intermediate technologists and engineers to develop compliance with established corporate standards and methodologies.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills and ability to think creatively.
  • Ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team. 
  • Ability to work in a hybrid work environment from an office, site or home setting.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
  • Provide a 3-year driver’s record.
