We are recruiting for a Systems Assurance and Systems Integration Senior Engineer to provide support to technical leadership across various projects in our portfolio who will drive forward engineering assurance, integration and testing activities with proven lifecycle-wide knowledge of railway systems, including project delivery, systems integration, systems assurance, safety engineering (CSM, interoperability, CDM), infrastructure and rail vehicle engineering.
You will support the wider Egis team on future business development opportunities. This role may also include working on projects/bids internationally for Egis Transport Solutions or other Egis subsidiaries, including travel within the UK and Ireland.
The role can be based in London/Birmingham/Manchester.
Responsibilities
- Take a supporting role to the Principal Engineer in managing the design team in your discipline and managing all technical aspects related to interdisciplinary coordination
- Support and where required lead the implementation of efficient processes to manage system safety (including CDM, CSM-RA and interoperability), requirements management, Verification and Validation (V&V) and system assurance
- Support driving consistency of the deliverables across all projects
- Contribute towards the standardisation of specifications and develop appropriate design criteria wherever not present
- Liaise with the project team for all related issues or decisions and provide technical opinion or support whenever needed
- Contribute to the production of the project Requirements Specifications
- Coordinate the Quality aspects of the sub-systems deliverables as per the project Quality Management plan principles
- Support the delivery teams
Essential:
- Proven experience in Engineering / Technical functions, with experience or a willingness to develop limited experience as an Assurance Manager / System Integrator
- Good knowledge of railway infrastructure, systems, and operating requirements
- Meaningful experience of integrating rail systems across multiple parties and contracts
- Meaningful experience working on design and build contracts, within a design joint venture
- Credible understanding of rail engineering, including Metro, LRT, High Speed and Heavy Rail associated rail standards, and related regulations (TPG, CDM, CSM, RIR)
- Developed management skills with the ability to support, mentor and coordinate a team of engineers and technicians
- Proven capability in managing design for a rail, especially in multi-disciplinary environments
- Demonstrable relationship management skills with the ability to engage, negotiate and manage key stakeholders and suppliers
- Excellent engineering, analytical and problem-solving abilities
Desirable:
- BSc or similar in Bachelor Degree (BEng, BSc) in a Numerate, Scientific or Engineering subject or Higher Education/equivalent training and experience.
- Chartered Engineer status from a recognised institution
- Relevant experience in the design, specification and procurement of infrastructure, tram/metro design preferably
- Good knowledge of the rail environment appreciated.
- Knowledge of quality assurance
