Senior MEP Project Manager based in Markham, Ontario, Canada, responsible for leading the design and engineering management of building mechanical and electrical programs. The role provides leadership across multidisciplinary design teams, ensuring alignment of technical requirements, project schedules, commercial objectives, and quality standards throughout project execution.
The position oversees project delivery across pre-construction, planning, detailed design, permitting, procurement, construction, and closeout phases. Responsibilities include client-facing technical leadership, design coordination, stakeholder engagement, risk management, quality reviews, and executive reporting within complex building projects.
The ideal candidate brings 15+ years of experience in engineering design management, strong exposure to mechanical and electrical building systems, professional engineering credentials, and demonstrated success managing large-scale design programs involving multiple stakeholders, commercial accountability, and technical governance.
Responsibilities:
- Lead design management activities through pre-construction, planning, detailed design, permitting, procurement, construction, and project closeout phases.
- Act as the primary client interface, providing technical recommendations and engineering solutions to support project objectives.
- Manage multidisciplinary design coordination activities to ensure compliance with contract requirements, technical specifications, schedule commitments, and cost targets.
- Develop and implement project management processes across mechanical and electrical engineering teams.
- Identify project risks, establish mitigation strategies, and monitor risk exposure throughout delivery.
- Perform internal quality reviews and drawing coordination to verify adherence to defined scope, standards, and project requirements.
- Lead design review meetings and coordinate stakeholder feedback to secure approvals and maintain project progression.
- Facilitate ongoing stakeholder coordination with internal teams, clients, consultants, and project partners.
- Prepare and present technical reporting and executive-level progress updates, including project performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Monitor project financial performance through fee tracking, resource planning, scope management, and cost control activities.
- Identify out-of-scope activities, support commercial negotiations, and manage change order processes with clients.
- Support strategic project delivery decisions through engineering analysis and data-driven problem solving.
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Professional Engineering License (P.Eng. or equivalent professional registration).
- Minimum 15 years of professional experience in engineering design management, project management, or program delivery environments.
- Demonstrated experience delivering large-scale mechanical and electrical building design programs.
- Proven experience conducting design reviews, drawing coordination, and multidisciplinary engineering integration activities.
- Strong knowledge of project development, scope definition, cost estimating, scheduling, and risk assessment methodologies.
- Experience managing client relationships and senior stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to prepare executive-level reports and recommendations supporting strategic decision-making.
- Strong technical capability across project phases including planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout.
- Experience managing technical scope, schedules, budgets, and quality requirements on complex projects.

- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Experience establishing standardized project delivery frameworks across engineering teams.
- Exposure to data analytics approaches supporting engineering decision-making.
- Experience negotiating commercial scope changes and contract modifications.
- Experience working within large multidisciplinary building engineering environments.
