Senior Electrical/ Instrumentation & Control Engineer

The Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer will be responsible for the design, review and delivery of instrumentation, PLC, SCADA and automation systems for water, wastewater, pumping stations and infrastructure projects.
 

Key Responsibilities 

• Develop and review PLC, SCADA, RTU, Remote I/O and communication system architectures. 

• Prepare and review P&IDs, Instrument Index, I/O List, data sheets, control philosophy, cause-and-effect matrix and functional design specifications. 

• Prepare instrument layouts, hook-up drawings, loop diagrams, cable schedules, panel GA drawings, technical specifications and BOQs. 

• Select and size pressure, flow, level, temperature and analytical instruments. 

• Develop control and monitoring requirements for pumps, valves, MCCs, VFDs and packaged equipment. 

• Coordinate with process, mechanical, electrical, civil, ICT, BMS and other disciplines. 

• Review vendor proposals, technical submittals, shop drawings and material submissions. 

• Prepare technical bid evaluations and respond to contractor and vendor queries. 

• Attend client meetings, design reviews and interdisciplinary coordination meetings. 

• Support FAT, SAT, loop checking, testing, commissioning and system integration. 

• Review and guide the work of junior engineers and designers. 

• Ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards, schedules and quality requirements.

Qualification and Experience 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation, Control, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. 

• 8–12 years of relevant experience in Instrumentation, Control and Automation engineering. 

• Experience in engineering consultancy, EPC or detailed design projects. 

• Experience in water, wastewater, irrigation, pumping stations or infrastructure projects is preferred. 

Technical Skills 

• Strong knowledge of PLC, SCADA, HMI, RTU, Remote I/O and telemetry systems. 

• Familiarity with Siemens, Schneider Electric, Rockwell Automation, ABB or equivalent platforms. 

• Knowledge of communication protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP, Modbus RTU, Profinet, Profibus, OPC UA and IEC 60870-5-104. 

• Good understanding of MCC, VFD, UPS, fibre-optic networks and packaged-equipment interfaces. 

• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications. 

• Knowledge of applicable ISA, IEC, IEEE, NFPA and BS EN standards.
