- Design and develop electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and related infrastructure.
- Author detailed technical specifications, control philosophies, cable/load schedules, network diagrams, and technical reports.
- Review MCC schematics, contractor calculations, and PLC/SCADA architectures; close design gaps, issue technical submittals, and respond to RFIs.
- Prepare technical submittals; assist FAT, SAT, QA/QC walk‑downs, and commissioning
- Supervise junior team members and review work items, providing mentorship, ensuring quality standards are met, and fostering professional development within the team.
- Developing electrical design proposal and contributing to business development in the electrical sector.
- Hold an honours degree (level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications), or equivalent professional qualification in electrical engineering.
- Have at least 7+ years’ relevant experience in engineering consultancy or EPC (within water, wastewater, or comparable heavy‑process plants,
- Member of Engineers Ireland or other relevant professional body
- Chartered Engineer status is required, or be on track to achieve this within the next 6 to 12 months.
- Experience in any of the following is desirable but not essential: substation design; transmission and distribution grid design and renewable power projects.
- Demonstrated understanding of water‑treatment unit operations and the ability to assess existing EICA assets to develop upgrade or new‑build designs.
- Competent in producing SLDs, Block Cable & Network‑Infrastructure diagrams, and providing input to GAs, 3‑D/BIM models and P&IDs.
- Exposure to PLC/SCADA integration and a working understanding of LV/MV protection coordination principles.
- Proficient with AutoCAD Electrical/MEP and at least one electrical‑design platform (Trimble ProDesign, ETAP, EPLAN or equivalent).
- Strong teamwork, written and verbal communication, and stakeholder‑management abilities; comfortable interfacing with multidisciplinary teams, vendors and contractors.
- Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites as required
Desirable:
- Proven capability with detailed EICA calculations (cable sizing, voltage‑drop, short‑circuit, earthing, lighting, fault studies) and equipment selection (MCCs/VFDs, transformers, motors, instrumentation).
- Working knowledge of I.S. 10101:2020, IEC/BS EN standards and WIMES specifications
- Working Knowledge of Irish and EU Health & Safety legislation (e.g., Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Regulations).
- Project Management/Contract Management experience.
- Experience in liaison with ESB/Eirgrid and Grid Connections applications
