The Senior Construction Engineer is responsible for supervising, coordinating, and monitoring construction activities on site, ensuring that work is executed in compliance with the contract, approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and project schedule. The role involves managing construction teams, liaising with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders, and ensuring safe and efficient site operations.
Project Supervision & Execution
- Oversee day-to-day site activities to ensure compliance with project plans and schedules.
- Monitor contractors’ performance and progress to ensure timely completion of work.
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and method statements for accuracy and constructability.
- Coordinate and resolve technical issues and conflicts on site.
Quality & Standards
- Ensure all construction work adheres to approved quality standards and specifications.
- Conduct regular inspections and ensure quality control tests are performed.
- Issue NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and follow up on corrective actions where required.
- Planning & Coordination
- Liaise with project managers, architects, consultants, and subcontractors.
- Assist in preparing and reviewing construction schedules, work programs, and progress reports.
- Coordinate with procurement teams for material availability and timely delivery.
Safety Management
- Enforce safety regulations and ensure all construction activities comply with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) requirements.
- Participate in safety audits, toolbox talks, and incident investigations.
- Cost & Resource Management
- Monitor resource utilization (materials, labor, and equipment) to prevent wastage.
- Review and verify contractors’ claims, variations, and work progress for invoicing.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare daily/weekly progress reports, site instructions, and project documentation.
- Maintain updated records of all site activities and correspondence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Construction Engineering (Master’s degree is an advantage).
- 10+ years of experience in construction engineering, with at least 3–5 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Proven experience in large-scale infrastructure & building projects (experience with PMC/consultancy firms preferred).
- Strong knowledge of construction standards, building codes, and project management principles.
- Proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, and project management software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).
