- Checks and validates that the entries in the local accounting system are in line with the applicable reporting requirements.
- Performs month-end and year end closing operations in accordance with the statutory reporting requirements and regional/global policies.
- Manages accruals, prepayments and depreciation schedules.
- Re-conciliates between the local statutory accounting system and the reporting system.
- Review the annual statutory financial statements and the half yearly accounting reports.
- Review the monthly, quarterly and annual tax returns for VAT and corporate tax as applicable.
- Timely identify possible accounting and tax compliance issues and communicate these to the manager.
- Performs and maintains periodic balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ensures compliance with internal controls and accounting standards.
- Providing documentation and support to auditors during internal and external audits.
- Responsible for managing and reconciling transactions between a company and its related entities.
- Assisting with the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assists with Oracle Implementation in collecting and updating AR, AP, GL and Fixed Assets Journals.
- Manages External and Internal supplier payments. Reconciles and produces statement of accounts.
- Ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records by reconciling bank statements, sub-ledgers, and other accounts.
- Assisting with the development of budgets and financial forecasts on overhead, providing insights based on historical and present data.
- Input financial data such as Balance Sheet and P&L for Actuals and Forecast in Tagetik reporting system.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field. Accounting qualifications are a plus.
5-7 years of experience in a similar role. Preferrably in the Engineering consultancy industry.
Proficiency in accounting software: Familiarity with ERP systems (eg Sage, Oracle) is a plus.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to analyze financial data, identify issues, and propose solutions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Attention to detail and accuracy
Understanding of IFRS or GAAP
