About the Role

The Scheduler supports the development, maintenance, and analysis of project schedules for complex capital projects in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Working closely with project management, engineering, construction, and project controls teams, the role helps establish schedule baselines, monitor project progress, identify potential delays, and provide accurate scheduling information to support successful project delivery.

The position requires practical experience in project scheduling, Primavera P6, critical path analysis, progress measurement, forecasting, and project controls. Working within a multidisciplinary project environment, the Scheduler supports the integration of scope, schedule, and project milestones while contributing to schedule reporting, risk identification, change management, and performance monitoring.

The ideal candidate has experience supporting major capital, engineering, construction, infrastructure, industrial, or energy projects and demonstrates strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate schedule information across multiple project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project.
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of schedule baselines, milestones, activities, dependencies, and project calendars.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineering teams, construction teams, and other stakeholders to collect schedule inputs and validate project progress.
  • Perform critical path analysis and monitor critical and near-critical activities that may affect project delivery.
  • Monitor actual progress against approved schedules and identify schedule variances, delays, constraints, and emerging risks.
  • Prepare regular schedule updates, look-ahead schedules, milestone reports, progress reports, and schedule forecasts.
  • Support progress measurement and Earned Value Management (EVM) activities, including analysis of schedule performance indicators where applicable.
  • Assist with schedule forecasting and evaluate potential impacts to project completion dates and key milestones.
  • Support the assessment of project changes and incorporate approved scope and schedule changes into project schedules.
  • Maintain schedule logic, activity relationships, calendars, coding structures, and other scheduling data to ensure schedule quality and integrity.
  • Participate in project meetings and provide scheduling information to support project planning, coordination, and decision-making.
  • Assist with schedule risk identification and the development of mitigation or recovery strategies for potential delays.
  • Prepare project controls reports and dashboards covering schedule performance, milestone status, progress, and forecast completion dates.
  • Support continuous improvement of scheduling processes, project controls procedures, reporting, and schedule management practices.

  • Ability to analyze schedule information, identify potential delays or constraints, and communicate findings clearly to project stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams and manage scheduling information across multiple workstreams.

Assets

  • Experience applying Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and interpreting schedule performance indicators such as SPI.
