The RAMS (Reliability, Availability, Maintainability & Safety) Engineer/Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating RAMS activities across the rail project lifecycle. The role ensures that all systems meet required performance, safety integrity levels, and compliance with international railway standards (e.g., EN 50126/50128/50129). The position supports design assurance, system integration, verification and validation, and preparation of RAMS deliverables for regulatory acceptance.
- Develop and implement the RAMS Plan in accordance with project requirements and CENELEC standards (EN 50126/50128/50129).
- Conduct RAM analyses, including Reliability Predictions, FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and quantitative RAM modelling.
- Lead Safety activities related to hazard identification (HAZID), hazard logs, SIL allocation, risk assessments, and safety justification.
- Coordinate RAMS activities across engineering disciplines, ensuring requirements are embedded into designs and maintained through construction and testing.
- Prepare and maintain RAMS documentation, including Safety Cases, RAM Demonstration Reports, Hazard Logs, and V&V matrices.
- Ensure requirements traceability through the V‑model from concept to operation, including verification and validation close-out.
- Support system integration, testing, commissioning, and operational readiness from a RAMS perspective.
- Review contractor and supplier RAMS deliverables to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and standards.
- Interface with Independent Safety Assessors (ISA) and national authorities for safety approvals and certification.
- Monitor RAM performance during testing, identify deviations, and propose corrective or mitigation measures.
- Support lifecycle cost assessments through maintainability analysis, maintenance strategy inputs, and LCC modelling.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Industrial, or Railway Engineering.
- 8–15+ years of RAMS experience in rail, metro, or high-speed rail projects.
- Strong working knowledge of CENELEC EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129 and RAMS methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience developing Safety Cases and leading safety assurance activities.
- Strong analytical background with experience in FMECA, FTA, Reliability Modelling, and Risk Assessment.
- Experience with multidisciplinary engineering environments and system integration.
- Proficient in RAMS tools such as ReliaSoft, Isograph, Reliability Workbench, DOORS, or similar.
