Join our highly successful Aviation service line, working across the full breadth of our UK business and serving a wide range of innovative transport programmes.
Egis is a leading global consulting, engineering and operations organisation, with UK office locations in Farnborough, London, Bristol and other locations serving a broad range of clients internationally.
We work for airports, air navigation service providers, industry and governments improving the efficiency and safety of operations and conducting policy and strategy analysis. About the role:
We’re at an exciting time in our growth and we are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to deliver project support within an aviation management consultancy environment.
Our clients include airports, ANSPs, governments and regulators, so the work you do will be varied. The consultancy environment is very fast-paced with opportunities emerging at very short notice. This means you will need to take a flexible, agile approach when supporting our Project Managers and Bid Managers in delivering excellence in consultancy services and meeting or exceeding client requirements.
We work in small, multi-skilled teams which include aviation consultants at all levels of the business and are established on a project basis. This means you will receive full support within your role and/or apprenticeship, under the guidance of our senior staff.
You'll either need to be:
- Someone with experience in project management support, or
- Someone with a keen interest in aviation, who would like a career in project management and learn about all the different aspects of the profession.
We are flexible regarding whether this role is full or part-time and welcome applications from those established in their careers or those currently on an apprenticeship scheme. The role provides opportunity for progression, and it is anticipated that the role will evolve as our UK business continues to grow.
What you'll be doing…
As part of the role, you will support our aviation consultants in project and/or bid management and bid submission. You will also support our Project Management Office and Quality Management team in ensuring the high quality of our work and sharing best practice to our project and bid managers. The list of duties below will evolve during the period of the apprenticeship or as your knowledge and experience of the company develops:
- Work as part of our Project and Bid Delivery teams to support producing project and bid material in line with hard deadlines.
- Support experienced project managers, working on live aviation consultancy projects, to develop the advanced skills and experience you need to succeed in this field.
- Coordinate and arrange project meetings both internally and with external clients.
- Eventually take on responsibility for delivering smaller tasks within larger projects, always with the support of your colleagues.
- Manage our tender monitoring process, to contribute to identifying project opportunities for the business, with the support of our existing PMO team and tender support colleagues.
- Coordinate the onboarding of subcontractors, ensuring all necessary contractual documents and certifications are returned before approved use, to support bid submission in a timely manner, in liaison with the UK Legal Team.
- Support Project Managers in determining necessary travel requirements to meet international client needs.
- Proactive monitoring of project risks and implementation of mitigation actions.
- Preparation of project progress reports for both internal management review and also external delivery to our clients.
- Management and implementation of internal project management processes and documenting their outcomes as part of ISO 9001 quality management system.
- Support our PMO in the preparation of data and analysis on the performance of our projects as part of our operations management process.
- Working with colleagues in other parts of the UK business especially on topics around business performance, project risk management, health and safety and environmental performance.
- Supporting the adoption of any new Egis Group tools and processes into the aviation business through a proactive and collaborative approach.
- If joining us through an apprenticeship scheme, towards the end of your programme, there may also be the opportunity to travel overseas and shadow some of the consultants in action.
- A keen interest in pursuing a career in aviation project support.
- Evidence of excellent organisational, planning and time management skills.
- Evidence of being able to accurately follow processes and instructions.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and engage with colleagues at all levels of the business.
- To be proactive and able to demonstrate initiative with an inquisitive mind and appetite to learn.
- Take responsibility for actions.
- Ability to successfully work within a team and thrive through collaboration, as well as independent working.
- A high level of Microsoft Office and ICT skills.
- 5 GCSEs A*-C or 9-4 including Maths and English or equivalent.
Whether you’re a school-leaver, returning to work after a career break or just looking for a career change, we would welcome you application. We are also open to considering part-time and full-time options, for the right candidate.
As part of your application, you must include a cover letter explaining your interest in working within the aviation industry and why you are suitable for the role.
