About the Role
As a Project Manager in the Natural Science team, you will be responsible for planning, leading, and delivering environmental and natural heritage-based projects. You will manage multidisciplinary teams and provide technical and strategic guidance to ensure the successful execution of projects for a wide range of clients, including municipal, provincial, federal, and private sectors. This role combines project management expertise with a strong foundation in natural sciences, such as biology, ecology, or environmental science.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the delivery of environmental and natural science projects, including, but not limited to ecological assessments, species-at-risk surveys and inventories, habitat evaluations, environmental impact studies and assessments, and monitoring programs.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, schedules, work plans, and deliverables, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal technical staff (e.g., biologists, GIS specialists, planners, designers, etc.), clients, and regulatory agencies.
- Oversee fieldwork planning and execution, ensuring safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Prepare and review technical reports, proposals, and regulatory submissions.
- Maintain effective communication with stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and opportunities.
- Support business development efforts, including proposal writing, client relationship management, and identifying new project opportunities.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development and knowledge sharing.
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred).
- Preferably 5+ years of progressive experience in environmental consulting, with at least 2 years in a project management capacity.
- In-depth understanding of provincial and federal environmental regulations, guidelines, and permitting processes (e.g., ESA, MECP guidelines).
- Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with ecological fieldwork and knowledge of species-at-risk legislation, habitat assessment protocols, and mitigation planning.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- PMP certification or equivalent project management training is considered an asset but not required.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field sites within Canada as required.
