About the Role

About The Role

The Project Director serves as the primary point of contact for Client, responsible for the overall leadership, governance, and strategic direction of the Site Preparation Conceptual Engineering Project.

This role focuses on ensuring that the project is executed in alignment with Client’s strategic objectives, contractual requirements, and performance expectations, while maintaining full transparency and trust throughout the partnership.

The Project Director leads the project on behalf of EGIS, supported by a Project Manager responsible for PMO coordination and day-to-day execution, and a Deputy Project Director based in France who ensures efficient collaboration and communication with the European technical teams.

The Construction Program Director serves as the Technical Point of Contact, leading all engineering, constructability, and technical integration activities. This structure allows the Project Director to focus on strategic client engagement, governance, performance monitoring, and overall program delivery assurance, while the technical team executes the detailed engineering scope under the Construction Program Director’s leadership.

Duration: Phase 1 and Phase 2 (Approx. 18 months) // Full-Time, Project Based

Key Responsibilities

A. Strategic Leadership & Client Interface

  • Serve as primary liaison with Client, representing EGIS in all contractual, strategic, and managerial matters.
  • Maintain and strengthen a collaborative, trust-based relationship with the client through transparency, responsiveness, and effective communication.
  • Ensure all project activities are aligned with client priorities, governance expectations, and milestone commitments.
  • Lead executive and steering committee meetings with Client and subcontractor organizations.
  • Support high-level decision-making and ensure timely escalation of strategic or contractual issues.

B. Project Governance and Oversight

  • Establish and oversee implementation of Project Execution Plan (PEP), Project Quality Plan (PQP), and Risk & Interface Management Framework.
  • Ensure compliance with EGIS and Client governance frameworks, including reporting, documentation control, and internal review cycles.
  • Chair project management and review boards to ensure coordinated delivery across all workstreams.
  • Verify that all internal and external deliverables undergo proper quality and compliance checks before submission.

C. Contractual, Commercial, and Financial Control

  • Manage contract execution, including scope adherence, change management, and claims avoidance.
  • Oversee budget, financial forecasts, and earned value reporting in collaboration with the Project Manager and Controls Lead.
  • Ensure all commercial obligations, invoicing, and progress certifications are accurate and traceable.
  • Approve resource allocation plans, staffing forecasts, and subcontractor performance evaluations.

D. Organizational and Leadership Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to a multidisciplinary, international project team, ensuring cohesion and consistent delivery standards across Canada and France.
  • Foster a strong safety and quality culture aligned with nuclear industry expectations.
  • Promote collaboration between strategic (Canada-based) and technical (France-based) teams to achieve seamless project execution.
  • Coach, mentor, and evaluate project leadership personnel to maintain excellence in delivery.

E. Communication and Continuous Improvement

  • Facilitate Lessons Learned sessions with the Project Manager and Construction Program Director to capture and institutionalize best practices.
  • Ensure all communication channels between client, subcontractors, and internal teams remain open, structured, and proactive.
  • Represent EGIS at client review meetings, progress updates, and steering committees.
  • Drive continuous improvement, efficiency, and knowledge transfer throughout the project lifecycle.

What do we need from you

Qualifications and Experience

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related discipline.
  • 15+ years of experience leading major infrastructure or nuclear-related consultancy projects.
  • Proven record as Project Director or Senior Project Manager on complex, multi-phase programs.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project governance, contract management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience working with large Owner–Operator clients and multi-partner delivery teams.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with Canadian nuclear and environmental frameworks (CNSC, IAAC, MECP).
  • Experience in multi-national or cross-border project delivery (Canada–EU).
  • PMP or IPMA Level B certification.
  • Working knowledge of Primavera P6-based reporting and PMO tools.
