Project Director

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Project Director to lead and manage the successful delivery of a major rail project. The role involves overseeing multiple workstreams across project stages, ensuring on-time delivery, within budget, and to the highest quality standards while meeting stakeholder expectations. The Project Director will align cross-functional teams, manage risks, and uphold safety, quality, and sustainability principles.

• Provide strategic direction and leadership to the project team.
• Establish and maintain governance structures for program oversight and control.
• Oversee the development of safety benchmarking reports and design safety principles
• Guide iterative reference concept designs and technical requirements for input across all workstreams.
• Ensure compliance with planning approval pathways and statutory guidelines.
• Ensure alignment of project objectives with client goals.
• Establish and maintain efficient governance and reporting structures.
• Oversee all stages of the project lifecycle, from conceptualization to handover.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate decision-making
• Maintain transparency through regular communication and reporting
• Address stakeholder concerns and ensure alignment with project deliverables.
• Implement and maintain risk management and change control processes.
• Conduct impact assessments for potential changes and propose mitigation strategies.
• Uphold the highest safety standards by implementing Safety in Design principles.
• Foster a zero-accident culture and embed safety leadership principles
• Provide input into system designs, operational concepts, and maintenance strategies.
• Lead workshops to refine technical requirements and operational strategies.
• Promote sustainable design and delivery practices in line with ESG objectives.
• Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.

• Minimum of 18 years of experience in the rail industry
• Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Comprehensive understanding of project management methodologies (PMBOK, Agile).
• Proficiency in developing and reviewing technical and operational documents.
• Expertise in risk management, resource allocation, and reporting.
• Familiarity with international standards such as ISO 9001 and EN 50126.
