About Egis in Ireland

With over 600 staff in Ireland across 16 offices nationwide, we are committed to enabling sustainable economic development and responding to the requirements of population growth while addressing climate change and reducing carbon emissions. I

The Egis engineering division is now almost 200 people strong across four offices in Dublin, Castlebar, Cork and Limerick. This role can be based from any of these.


About the Role

Project Director:

  • Lead the delivery of some of Europe's most ambitious and transformative programmes.
  • Inspire and develop multidisciplinary teams, creating an environment where people can perform at their best.
  • Act as a trusted adviser to clients and stakeholders, building lasting relationships and driving successful project outcomes.
  • Take ownership of programme performance, ensuring excellence in safety, quality, commercial outcomes, and client satisfaction.
  • Drive collaboration across teams, effectively managing resources, risks, dependencies, and strategic priorities.
  • Shape innovative approaches to project delivery, bringing fresh thinking and continuous improvement to complex challenges.
  • Provide strong leadership in contract and commercial management, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and compliantly.
  • Identify and mitigate risks before they impact delivery, safeguarding programme objectives and client expectations.
  • Champion a culture of accountability, inclusion, and high performance, reflecting Egis' values and ambitions.
  • Ensure projects consistently meet or exceed agreed KPIs, SLAs, and business performance targets.

 


What do we need from you

  • Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or similar is desirable.
  • Chartered Engineer or equivalent professional status preferred.
  • Project management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, NEC4) advantageous.

Experience

  • Proven experience as Project Director or Senior Project Manager  on major rail or metro infrastructure projects.
  • Strong background in systems and MEP integration for underground stations, depots, and complex transit systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership of tender-stage delivery for large Design & Build or PPP projects.
  • Experience working within joint venture or alliance delivery models.
  • Solid understanding of automated metro systems including signalling, traction power, communications, control systems, and building services.
  • Experience working within regulated environments and familiarity with Irish or UK rail/building standards is highly desirable.

Key Competencies

  • Strong leadership and decision-making capability in high-pressure bid environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to balance risk, quality, cost, and programme.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on, delivery-focused mindset.

Desirable

  • Direct experience on automated metro or driverless rail systems.
  • Experience transitioning from bid leadership into live project delivery.
  • Knowledge of sustainability frameworks and whole-life asset performance.
