The main objective of the project is to create a trade route to connect the natural resource-rich Katanga province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to Zambia and, further, to the eastern port of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
A two-step program :
On behalf of GED Afrique, concessionaire and project leader, Egis intervenes from the design and construction phase, for a period of just under 3 years. Then the contract covers the first 7 years of operation.
Our interventions cover systems for toll collection, overload control, traffic management and border crossing facilitation. Notably, particularly modern equipment, not very common in Europe, will be deployed. For example, a dynamic weighing system for trucks (while they are in circulation) integrated into the road is planned!
The stage that begins has two phases. It primarily concerns all design and development activities. This phase also includes interfaces with donors and work contractors related to our facilities. It then plans supplies, installations and commissioning.
The next stage, that of operation and maintenance, includes: toll collection, incident response, traffic management, patrols, overload control, routine maintenance of roads, bridges and installations as well as the facilities management and border flow management.
Reports to the Project Director.
This role will be performed during the Design Build phase.
The project manager mitigates risk, ensures compliance, and protects the business from operational inefficiencies associated with the contract management lifecycle. The Contract Manager studies the legalities of contracts and help to negotiate terms and conditions with clients and third parties, before drawing up legal documents to outline terms of service and project deliverables. The duties include responding to contract negotiation, bids, and proposals, reviewing all contracts to ensure they comply with all company policies, regulations, and laws, and analyzing potential risks of signing certain contracts.
The position’s holder can’t be successful without complying with the relevant procedures, directives, and other legal requirements of the Quality Management System, fulfilling the accountabilities of this position in accordance with corporate policies, Egis’s core values, Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics Standards.
The main responsibilities are :
- Identify the contractual commitments made when signing the contract
- Manage the overall design of the project by coordinating the interfaces between the different batches/specialties in a logic of optimization
- Implement the organization (personnel, internal contracts, subcontracting, material resources, etc.) for the completion of the contract
- Plan and organize production between the various internal/external stakeholders, coordinate service providers and check the overall consistency of the studies
- Guarantee compliance with costs, deadlines and quality of the project
- Establish project reports
- Report to clients and internally on the progress of the project on a defined deadline
- Detect and deal with all project hazards in real time while maintaining customer confidence
- Guarantee the relationship of trust with the customer
- Manage the contract at the level of expected margins
- Evaluate the performance and skills of employees and resources mobilized by the project
- Organize feedback throughout the project
- Define the consistency of the studies, plan them
- Organize production between the various internal/external stakeholders, coordinate service providers
