About Us

Egis is an international group offering engineering, project structuring and operations services. In engineering and consulting, its sectors of activity include transport, urban development, building, industry, water, environment, and energy. In roads and airports, its offer is enlarged to encompass project structuring, equity investment, facilities delivery, and operations. The Group additionally deploys its expertise in areas such as new mobility services and turnkey energy systems.

KMTR : 4 letters to designate the toll road between Kasomeno and Mwenda. The main objective of the project is to create a trade route to connect the natural resource-rich Katanga province of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to Zambia and, further, to the eastern port of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.

A two-step program :

On behalf of GED Afrique, concessionaire and project leader, Egis intervenes from the design and construction phase, for a period of just under 3 years. Then the contract covers the first 7 years of operation.

Our interventions cover systems for toll collection, overload control, traffic management and border crossing facilitation. Notably, particularly modern equipment, not very common in Europe, will be deployed. For example, a dynamic weighing system for trucks (while they are in circulation) integrated into the road is planned!

The stage that begins has two phases. It primarily concerns all design and development activities. This phase also includes interfaces with donors and work contractors related to our facilities. It then plans supplies, installations and commissioning.

The next stage, that of operation and maintenance, includes: toll collection, incident response, traffic management, patrols, overload control, routine maintenance of roads, bridges and installations as well as the facilities management and border flow management.

Reports to the Project Director.
