About the Role

**Role Overview**

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team in Cairo, Egypt. In this leadership role, you will drive the delivery of complex geotechnical scopes across diverse building and infrastructure projects. As the technical authority on geotechnical design decisions, you will mentor a talented team of engineers, collaborate seamlessly with clients and lead consultants, and serve as the primary geotechnical interface with specialist contractors. **Specifications & Technical Documentation**

  • Develop comprehensive specifications for geotechnical investigations, topographic surveys, geophysical studies, and remote sensing applications
  • Prepare detailed construction specifications covering earthworks, piling, embedded walls, shoring systems, earth retaining structures (MSE, gabion, nailed walls), ground improvement techniques, slope stabilization, tie-back anchors, rock bolts, and dewatering systems
  • Create Instrumentation & Monitoring specifications including inclinometers, piezometers, and settlement plates
  • Prepare Geotechnical Interpretative Reports, Geotechnical Design Reports, and Desk Study Reports with precision and clarity
  • Develop geotechnical chapters within structural design reports and contribute to technical proposals for tendering purposes

**Design & Analysis**

  • Conduct bearing capacity, settlement, consolidation, and time-settlement analyses with analytical rigor
  • Perform shoring wall design using PLAXIS 2D or Wallap
  • Execute soil-structure interaction analysis using PLAXIS 3D
  • Interpret CPT data using CLiq or CPT-IT
  • Design ground improvement solutions using StoneC
  • Analyze lateral pile behavior using L-Pile (p–y curves)
  • Assess slope stability using Slope/W, Slide2, Dips, or Swedge
  • Evaluate seismic and liquefaction risks using Liquefy Pro
  • Optimize foundations across multiple structural load cases

**Review, Quality Assurance & Compliance**

  • Review method statements against issued specifications, borehole logs, and laboratory testing programs with meticulous attention to detail
  • Review final Geotechnical Interpretative Reports and Geotechnical Final Reports from soil laboratories
  • Monitor Instrumentation & Monitoring data against trigger levels during construction phases
  • Review specialist contractor submissions covering shoring, dewatering design, piling, ground improvement, rock stabilization, and retaining wall designs
  • Conduct in-house QA/QC and external peer reviews of all geotechnical deliverables
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards

**Leadership & Stakeholder Management**

  • Lead and mentor a team of senior and junior engineers across concurrent projects with a supportive and inclusive approach
  • Serve as the technical signatory for geotechnical deliverables
  • Manage workstream scope, program, and fees with efficiency and transparency
  • Attend and lead meetings with clients, lead consultants, sub-consultants, and contractors
  • Coordinate seamlessly across structural, civil, and environmental disciplines on multidisciplinary projects
  • Contribute to business development and client relationship management initiatives
  • Represent the organization in technical presentations, design workshops, and value engineering sessions
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement

What do we need from you

**Education**

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering (required)
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field (preferred)

**Experience**

  • 12–15 years of progressive experience in geotechnical design and investigation
  • Proven track record delivering complex infrastructure and building projects
  • Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring engineering teams
  • Strong background in client and stakeholder management
  • Experience preparing technical proposals and business development activities
  • Site investigation and field experience on diverse project types

**Technical Skills & Software Proficiency**

  • Advanced proficiency in PLAXIS 2D & 3D, Settle 3D, Wallap, L-Pile, Slope/W, Slide2, Dips, and Swedge
  • Competency in StoneC for ground improvement design
  • Experience with CLiq, CPT-IT, and Liquefy Pro for CPT interpretation and liquefaction assessment
  • Proficiency in RocLab, Dips, and Slope/W for rock engineering applications
  • Experience with RockWorks or equivalent geological modeling software
  • Working knowledge of QGIS for GIS applications
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office Suite

**Design & Analysis Competencies**

  • Expert-level knowledge of bearing capacity, settlement, and consolidation analysis
  • Proficiency in shoring wall and embedded wall design
  • Strong understanding of soil-structure interaction principles
  • Expertise in CPT interpretation and ground characterization
  • Competency in ground improvement design and implementation
  • Advanced knowledge of lateral pile analysis and foundation design
  • Proficiency in slope stability analysis and rock engineering
  • Understanding of seismic assessment and liquefaction evaluation
  • Ability to optimize foundations across multiple structural load cases

**Codes, Standards & Certifications**

  • Working knowledge of AASHTO, ASTM, and IBC (American codes)
  • Proficiency in Eurocode 7 (EC7)
  • Familiarity with BS standards (advantageous)
  • International accreditations from reputable institutions such as ICE (preferred)
