Job Key Responsibilities:
- Specifications:
- Developing site survey work specifications for Geotechnical Investigation, Topographic Survey, Geophysical Survey, Geological Mapping, and Remote Sensing works, if applicable.
- Preparing specifications for geotechnical-related construction works, including Earthworks, Piling Works, Embedded Walls and Shoring Systems, Earth Retaining Structures (for infrastructure projects such as MSE walls, gabion walls, etc.), Ground Improvement Works, Slope Stabilization Works, and Tie-back Anchors / Rock Bolts (Passive / Active systems).
- Technical Writing and Reports:
- Preparing Geotechnical Design Reports and Geotechnical Interpretative Reports.
- Preparing Site Desk Study Reports (either standalone or as part of a multidisciplinary combined report).
- Developing Geotechnical Chapters within the Structural Design Reports.
- Geotechnical hazard assessment report, i.e. ( rock cliff stability and rockfall risk analysis, as well as Sabkha soil hazard evaluation , etc.. )
- Review / Checking Tasks:
- Review related to Geotechnical Investigation and Site Survey Works:
- Review and align Method Statements with the issued Site Survey Works Specifications.
- Review draft borehole logs and adjust or confirm the proposed laboratory testing program (number, type, and depth of samples) based on design requirements.
- Review final GIR & GFR reports received from soil laboratories.
- Review specialist geotechnical contractor design submissions, including: Shoring and dewatering design calculations and shop drawings, Piling foundation calculations and shop drawings, Ground improvement design calculations, Rock stabilization system designs & Other geotechnical-related designs such as retaining walls (gabion, MSE, nailed walls, etc.)
- Perform in-house QA/QC reviews for reports prepared by other engineers for any of the above listed tasks.
- Design and Analysis:
- Conduct bearing capacity and settlement calculations using in-house spreadsheets and developed web-based apps.
- Perform shoring wall analysis using PLAXIS 2D, Wallap, or equivalent software.
- Analyze and interpret CPT data for general purposes or for ground improvement design.
- Design ground improvement and soil reinforcement systems using STONE C or similar tools.
- Conduct single pile p–y curve analysis using L-Pile software.
- Carry out Soil or Rock masses slope stability analysis using Slope/W, Dips, Swedge, or Slide2.
- Soil Structure interactions analysis using 3D FEA or FDA software packages ( Plaxis 3D , Midas or Flac )
- Design Software Knowledge:
- GIS Tools: QGIS
- Design & Analysis: L-Pile, PLAXIS 2D, Wallap, StoneC, CLiq, CPT-IT, Liquefy Pro, RocLab
- Geological Modelling: RockWorks (from Rockware)
- Leadership, Management & Communication Skills:
- Managing small teams of senior engineers across multiple geotechnical design and reporting tasks.
- Attending meetings with clients, lead design consultants, sub-consultants, and contractors.
- Participating in internal coordination and progress meetings for ongoing projects.
- Conduct periodic site visits as per project requirements for auditing geotechnical construction works and monitoring compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
Minimum BSc degree in Civil Engineer
Accreditation from international engineering societies or institutions such as ICE and ASCE.
