The Principal Fire Engineer will lead the delivery of complex fire and life safety engineering projects, providing technical leadership, strategic input, and oversight across multiple projects. The role requires strong expertise in prescriptive & performance-based design, authority approvals, and team leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage fire engineering design on large and complex projects from concept through to completion.
- Act as the technical lead for fire and life safety strategies, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards (e.g., UAE Fire Code, SBC, NFPA & IBC).
- Develop and review:
- Fire strategy reports
- Smoke management (CFD) analyses
- Egress modelling and evacuation studies
- Fire protection system design criteria
- Liaise with authorities having jurisdiction to secure approvals and resolve technical issues.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers.
- Review and approve deliverables to ensure quality and consistency.
- Manage project resources, timelines, and budgets.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (architects, MEP, structural, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree in Fire Engineering or related engineering discipline (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum 12–15 years of experience in fire engineering, with a strong focus on complex / large-scale projects.
- Proven experience in performance-based fire engineering design.
- Strong knowledge of international codes and standards (NFPA, SBC, IBC & UAE FLS Code).
- Experience dealing with local authorities in the UAE / GCC is highly desirable.
