Egis Transport Solutions (ETS), a business unit of the Egis Group, brings together all of the necessary expertise for guided urban transport and heavy rail: systems, automation, rolling stock, safety, equipment, stations, MEPHFC, civil engineering, environment, etc.
We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced, and motivated Associate / Lead Electrical Engineer to join the Egis Transport Solutions MEPHFC Design Team. The ideal candidate will have experience in rail station electrical services design and coordination.
As an Associate / Lead Electrical Engineer you will be a senior member of the team and will be required to support the Associate Director, who leads the MEPHFC team. You will lead and manage other engineers and be responsible for the delivery of electrical designs, and this may involve assuming a CEM or CRE role. We are looking for someone who’s dedicated, diligent, and driven, and will take this challenge head on, being an important part of a dynamic team with big ambitions.
Your responsibilities are likely to include:-
- Undertaking the CEM and/or CRE role
- Deputise for the Associate Director where required
- Develop design from feasibility up to As Built
- Carrying out design reviews and working to design assurance processes
- Helping to grow the team and developing its technical capability
- Lead & manage a small team of engineers
- Mentoring others in CRE roles, and discipline training
- Nurture a get it right first time culture within the team
- Produce and issue progress reports
- Prepare & conduct presentations to colleagues, clients, and stakeholders etc.
Essential:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Member of an engineering institute and has Engineering Council Professional Registration
- Experience of undertaking the CEM/CRE/DPE role
- Experience in managing works in accordance with NR-L2-RSE-02009, Engineering Management of Projects
- Sufficient experience in the railway industry
- Experience in rail station electrical services design and coordination
- Comprehensive knowledge of British Standards and Regulations, and Rail Standards, such as Network Rail, HS2 and TfL
- Ability to deliver work to a programme and budget
- Excellent leadership skills and mentoring experience
- An ability to train and upskill team members
- Expert communication, organisation, and collaboration abilities
- Proficient at leading meetings and presenting to clients, stakeholders, colleagues, subcontractors, suppliers etc.
- Experience of supporting the organisation to build and grow
- Excellent understanding of electrical systems from a technical, design, installation, buildability, and maintenance perspective
- Knowledge of engineering software tools including Trimble/Amtech Pro Design, Dialux or Relux
- Knowledge of procurement activities and lead times
- Being committed to professional development, staying updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in rail design and engineering, integrating them into project designs as appropriate
YOU MUST HAVE THE RIGHT TO WORK IN THE UK
Desirable:
- Knowledge of design stages and requirements e.g. RIBA, BSRIA, GRIP
- Experience of working in an engineering production environment
- Experience of multi-disciplinary design and coordination, and the delivery of projects to a high quality, throughout all design stages
- Experience of working with 3D models in a BIM environment
- Experience of producing technical notes, reports, specifications, drawings, schedules and calculations
- Ability to find solutions to engineering problems
- Proven capability in managing design interfaces and integration processes
- Experience of design assurance requirements & processes
- Good understanding of relevant legislation such as CDM and CSM
- Good knowledge of NEC contracts and project communications
- Understanding of project scopes, requirements, works information, and excellent commercial awareness
