- Civil Engineering Design | UK‑Wide Impact | High‑Growth Environment
Egis is expanding rapidly in the UK, backed by a global team of more than 23,500 experts across 70+ countries. We design and deliver intelligent, sustainable infrastructure to address climate challenges and strengthen community resilience. As part of our fast‑growing UK Water team, you will join an agile environment where progression is quick, visibility is high, and your impact is immediate.
About the Role
The UK water sector is entering a period of unprecedented investment and transformation. As Egis accelerates the growth of its Water Business in the UK, we are building a high-performing Civil Engineering team to help shape this next chapter.
We are inviting applicants who want to play a meaningful role in delivering major water and wastewater programmes. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you will contribute to technically robust, sustainable and innovative treatment solutions across nationally significant projects.
This is a rare opportunity to join at a key stage of our UK growth journey, helping to establish, shape and expand a civil engineering capability built on Egis’ global infrastructure expertise and long-term commitment to the sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead civil design delivery on multidisciplinary water, wastewater and bioresources/sludge treatment projects across the full design lifecycle.
- Act as civil technical lead on projects, owning civil design strategy, key technical decisions, interfaces, risks, quality and assurance of deliverables.
- Review and approve civil calculations, layouts, models, drawings, specifications, schedules, hydraulic models, design reports, technical notes and supplier/contractor submissions.
- Lead civil design for treatment works, tanks, channels, chambers, hydraulic structures, buried/above-ground structures, pipework support zones, drainage, access, foundations, platforms, utilities and site layouts.
- Lead civil input to optioneering, value engineering, design reviews, HAZOP/SWIFT, CDM/safety-by-design, carbon reduction, constructability, maintainability and commissioning reviews.
- Drive multidisciplinary coordination across Process, Mechanical, EICA, structural, geotechnical, architectural, construction, commissioning and operations teams.
- Promote lean and digitally enabled delivery through standardised tools, BIM/3D coordination, data-led design, reusable templates, model-based delivery and efficient QA workflows.
- Provide civil technical assurance and support project managers with technical risk, discipline scope, resourcing, programme, budget, change control and design governance.
- Lead engagement with clients, operators, contractors, suppliers and technology providers to resolve technical issues and shape robust civil design solutions.
- Mentor and manage engineers where appropriate, supporting recruitment, development, chartership progression and growth of the civil capability.
- Contribute to bids, client engagement, opportunity shaping, technical proposals and development of Egis’ UK civil engineering capability in water.

- Background must be from water, wastewater, biosolids/bioresources, environmental infrastructure or other relevant civil engineering design environments.
- Proven ability to act as civil discipline lead or senior technical lead on multidisciplinary projects.
- Strong technical expertise in civil design and hydraulic modelling for treatment works, including hydraulic structures, tanks, chambers, drainage, foundations, site layouts, buried structures, access, constructability and buildability.
- Strong understanding of UK water industry standards, CESWI, CDM 2015, safety-by-design, regulatory drivers, sustainable design principles and common delivery models.
- Ability to coordinate complex multidisciplinary interfaces and resolve civil design issues across Process, Mechanical, EICA, structural, geotechnical, architectural and construction disciplines.
- Strong digital mindset, with experience applying BIM/3D coordination, Civil 3D, hydraulic modelling (e.g. HADES), GIS, automation, data analysis or standardised workflows.
- Good commercial awareness, including experience managing discipline scope, programme, budget, technical risk and change.
- Confident client-facing communicator with experience leading workshops, design reviews, technical assurance discussions and multidisciplinary coordination meetings.
- Experience mentoring or managing engineers and supporting technical capability development.
