We are seeking a Principal Civil Designer to join our Brisbane design team. The primary purpose of this position is to provide high level technical support and direction in relation to design services for engineering projects including civil, structural, resources, geotechnical and other specialisations of engineering.
You will be responsible for
- Design of multi-disciplinary complex civil projects, ensuring design drawings for engineering project work comply with statutory and regulatory requirements and company policies and practices
- Providing high level technical support for all design drawings for engineering project work
- Directing preparation of preliminary and detailed designs for engineering projects in line with parameters set out in project scope of works
- Preparation of construction documentation and specifications for design works
- Preparing schedules and allocating resources to enable design drawings for engineering projects to be completed on time and within budget
- Ensuring compliance with specifications, design standards and Australian Codes to enhance quality design
- Promoting a culture of technical excellence through mentoring and training less experienced designers
- Supporting and approving associated technical work directly related to the discipline
- Playing an active role in the business groups through regular meetings, workshops, training and business planning
Ideally, you will have 10+ years of experience in civil design within a professional services or consultancy environment servicing private and public sector clients across Queensland. In addition, you will also have:
- Associate Degree or Advanced Diploma of Civil Engineering (or equivalent qualification) or significant experience as a senior civil designer
- Valid full drivers license
- Design of multi-disciplinary projects using 12D and Autocad
- Exposure to Microstation and CAD conform
- Experience supporting and approving associated technical work directly related to the discipline and in project management capacities
- Proven experience within the mining sector, capable of designing to client standards and specifications while developing haul roads, tailing structures, and embankments.
- The ability to leverage your knowledge of State utilities, Local Councils, and Main Roads to design bulk and detailed earthworks, roads, and stormwater drainage
- Strong client management capabilities
- Willingness to coach junior designers with advice on solutions and develop fit-for-purpose solutions to engineering problems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to participate in business develop activities as needed
