The Anthro joint venture between Egis and VVB Engineering will provide comprehensive turn-key services for London’s state-of-the-art HS2 gateway station at Old Oak Common. We have been awarded a multi-year contract to deliver MEPHFC (Mechanical, Electrical Public Health, Fire and Communications) systems works.

The Planning Manager occupies a strategic role at Old Oak Common station with overall responsibility for planning and scheduling for this Main Option C NEC 3 contract awarded to Anthro JV in November 2023. The scope of works of this work package 23 (WP23) comprises the design, procurement, manufacture, installation assurance, testing and commissioning, care & custody, trial operations and delivery into service for Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, Fire and Communication systems. The planning manager reports to the Head of Project Controls.

This Old Oak Common Station Project role requires a site presence of 3 days a week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the planning team ensuring everyone is working in a positive environment, requirements are clear and goals are achievable.
- Assess the Planning team needs and upskill when required to ensure effective delivery and optimum performance.
- Understand clarify and implement the requirements of the Subcontract Works Information related to project controls (SWI 500). Demonstrate compliance to the standards by providing evidence during audits and protecting against breaches.
- Responsible for the development, update and maintenance of the CL32 and CL62 programmes.
- Maintain a positive relationship with the client’s planning team to ensure programme aligned to the contract and is accepted at all times.
- Manage the WP23 programme interface with other work packages by identifying key GIVE/GET milestones and align with access dates.
- Ensure that the programme comments raised by the client are reviewed, actions are validated and resubmission is made after closing out the comments.
- Support the commercial team in developing CE quotations by providing CL62 programmes and support the Bottom-up Forecasts by providing labour and expenditure profiles.
- Ensure key compensation events, Contractor Instructions and Early Warnings are modelled in the programme promptly by maintaining daily check-ins on CEMAR.
- Manage the programme communications, ensure any critical changes are promptly relayed to internal stakeholders (AJV L3/L4 level managers) and external stakeholders (BBVS, COWI, TBE, etc.) in a clear and concise manner.
- Ensure the programme aligns with the project leadership’s (L2/L3 levels) defined goals, including delivery approach and Compensation Events strategies.
- Ensure any movement in Planned Completion and / or Key Dates Planned Completion is well documented and the underlying reasons for the variance are substantiated.
- Ensure appropriate Time Risk Allowance (TRA) is allocated to the critical activities and maintain transparency in reporting and ownership of TRA.
- Responsible for integrating Commercial and Planning for aspects related to Earned Value Analysis (EVA), including: spend profile, earned value, planned value
- Schedule Performance Index (SPI)
- Responsible for tracking quantities of materials and reporting planned, actuals and forecast.
- Liaise with Construction team on a daily basis to ensure robust project reporting is in place; integrate daily shift reports into the programme to ensure efficient delivery and realistic timescales.
- Liaise with the Procurement team to ensure the Tender Event Schedule (TES) is synced with the latest CL32 programme. Align construction sequencing with procurement lead times and material delivery schedules.
- Extensive experience in building construction, MEP experience is a plus. (railway stations preferred).
- Experience in a managerial role leading a Planning team.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering major projects within a contractor environment.
- Excellent people management and development skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation and client management abilities.
- Financial acumen and experience in project budget management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel as required for project assignments.
Desirable :
- Degree in Project Management, Engineering or a related field
- Chartered project manager or similar and member of a related professional body
- Rail sector knowledge
