About Us

Egis is a leading global consulting, construction engineering and operating firm. We work together with our clients, across every aspect of transport, energy and the built environment to build a more balanced, sustainable and resilient world. The Egis Group has over 50 years’ experience and a team of 22,000 employees in over 120 countries around the world. Joining our Group means, above all, sharing our values as a people-first company, strongly committed to sustainability and innovation.

In the UK we're proud to be delivering some of the most iconic projects which help connect people, protect our environment and meet emission reduction targets. From motorways to tramways, nuclear power plants to smart cities, clients choose us to help them solve their most complex challenges - delivering climate-responsible growth that meets the needs of communities, industry, and the planet.

The M25 is one of our Flagship projects in the UK! It is the most used part of the UK Strategic Road Network with it seeing over 200,000 vehicles per day and it’s a critical infrastructure asset for personal and goods vehicles into and around our capital. The network includes around 800 structures and 5 tunnels, so it requires high levels of performance, constant improvement and repairs to keep it operating smoothly.

We’ve formed a Joint Venture project called Connect Plus Services (CPS) to work with our partners to widen, operate and maintain the M25 under a 30-year contract until 2039 and we are looking for Pavement Engineers to  provide technical design input into proposing and detailing design solutions for upcoming pavement renewal schemes across the Connect Plus Services (M25) network. There is a wide range of pavement engineering challenges across the M25, and the need for safe, efficient and cost-effective design solutions is fundamental to maintaining the operation and performance of one of the UK’s busiest and most critical road networks.

About the Role

The role will provide opportunities for the individual to contribute to the development of pavement schemes, supporting design activities from concept through to detailed design under the guidance of senior engineers. The role will also provide the opportunity to follow through the practical construction onsite across the M25 network.

The Pavement Engineer will be expected to provide technical support to engineering reviews with stakeholders and contribute to the development of pavement designs that consider safe, efficient and buildable construction processes.

The role will require effective design coordination, checking the documentation produced by Framework Consultants and supporting the management of design workloads in line with delivery priorities, programme constraints and road space booking requirements. The role will require close working relationships with Asset engineers, Project Managers and designers responsible for relevant assets.

General: The role will focus on supporting the delivery of cost-effective pavement design solutions that maintain or improve the M25 highways asset in accordance with agreed standards and stakeholder requirements. Contribute to the delivery of the outcomes agreed with the National Highways and Connect Plus DBFO Co. to programme and budget, and to meet CPS quality standards. Coordinate with Design, Asset and PM teams and organisations (NH SES).

ACCOUNTABILITIES • Undertake optioneering and feasibility assessments of pavement design solutions as part of value management workshops, considering whole life cost, safety, performance, sustainability and buildability, under the direction of senior engineers and principal engineers.

• Prepare designs, reports, specifications and other deliverables to budget and programme, under the guidance of the senior engineer.

• Assist in the delivery of pavement investigations, including preparation of investigation scopes, reviewing and interpreting data, and developing appropriate design solutions based on findings.

• Review of Traffic Management Plans, Diversion Routes and organise Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders with Highways England and Local Councils.

• Participate in design reviews, technical assurance and gateway processes, providing engineering input to support timely approvals and high quality outcomes.

• Deliver schemes in accordance with CPS Quality Management Processes and CPS internal standards.

• Report to the Senior engineer and Principal Engineer and provide regular updates on the progress risk and technical issues.
