About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and responsible Light Vehicle Driver/Chargehand to join our team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this role, you will be responsible for safely operating light vehicles while also providing leadership and guidance to a team of drivers. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, excellent driving skills, and the ability to effectively manage a team.
- Operate light vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies
- Lead and supervise a team of drivers, assigning tasks and coordinating daily operations
- Ensure timely pickup and delivery of goods or passengers to designated locations
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to maintain vehicle safety and performance
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, mileage, and any incidents or delays
- Provide excellent customer service to clients and passengers
- Assist in training new drivers and promoting safe driving practices
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance and report any mechanical issues promptly
- Collaborate with dispatch and logistics teams to optimize routes and schedules
- Handle administrative tasks related to vehicle operations and team management
What do we need from you
- Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with a clean driving record
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a light vehicle driver
- Previous experience in a supervisory role is preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations in the UAE
- Excellent driving skills with a strong focus on safety
- Basic vehicle maintenance skills
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient time management and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if required
- Familiarity with local roads and traffic patterns in Dubai and surrounding areas
- Defensive driving certification is a plus
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is beneficial
- Physical ability to lift and handle packages or assist passengers as needed
