THIS OPPORTUNITY:
The Lead Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) will lead ISA activities on major subway and rail projects in the US and across North America. You will be the technical lead for these activities in the US while also working with Egis’s safety assurance engineering department across the globe.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide an independent and professional assessment that subway systems meet all applicable safety requirements and are fit for their intended operational environment.
- Plan and execute assessment activities, including reviews of hazard analyses, safety cases, system design, testing documentation, and verification and validation (V&V) evidence.
- Conduct safety audits, prepare detailed audit reports, and track resolution of findings to closure.
- Take full ownership of ISA deliverables and manage all related project documentation, schedules, and client interfaces.
- Mentor and develop Egis ISA team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate Engineer with at least 15 years’ experience in the field of systems safety assurance.
- Experience of delivering safety assurance activities in a rail environment, in design and build projects.
- Knowledge and experience in Subway signaling systems, such as CBTC and Solid State Interlocking.
- Knowledge and experience in Independent Safety Assessment (ISA), ideally on subway projects.
- At least 3 years’ experience leading a team of Systems Safety Engineers.
- You enjoy mentoring and developing others. You want to pass your technical skills and knowledge to your team.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Fluent in English at professional level. You have used English as your work language on projects.
- Authorized to work in the US.
- Travel will be required.
