The Anthro joint venture between Egis and VVB Engineering will provide comprehensive turn-key services for London’s state-of-the-art HS2 gateway station at Old Oak Common. We have been awarded a multi-year contract to deliver MEPHFC (Mechanical, Electrical Public Health, Fire and Communications) systems works.

 


About the Role

As the Lead BIM Manager you will lead and manage the Anthro BIM team and be responsible for all BIM requirements and management. You will take a leading role in setting and implementing the design and delivery process, as well as an important role in the implementation of the project execution strategy, ensuring all BIM outputs are produced to a high standard.

 

This role may also include working on other projects in a similar capacity for EGIS Transport Solutions or other EGIS subsidiaries.

 

BIM Team Management Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management of personnel within the BIM team, which includes BIM coordinators, BIM Modellers, BIM/CAD Technicians, and document controllers.
  • Assist BIM coordinators and project information engineers in the successful implementation of all BIM requirements for the project.
  • Deliver in-house training to BIM coordinators on ISO19650 and Common Data Environments, ensuring that all staff are well-versed in these processes.
  • Provide line management and mentorship to the BIM team.
  • Help to grow the team and develop its technical capability.
  • Responsible for the performance of the BIM team, ensuring work is delivered efficiently, to a high standard, and in line with the programme.
  • Produce and issue progress reports.

 

BIM Management:

  • Define Anthro’s BIM/Digital Strategy.
  • Ensure BIM processes and protocols for input data management and external deliverables / published documentation.
  • Produce BIM Execution Plans (BEPs) and Digital Strategies.
  • Define collaborative processes and procedures (including 2D and 3D clash detection).
  • Review tenant information to ensure accurate and consistent model information.
  • Ensure all data generated by Anthro personnel meet individual project requirements set out in both Exchange Information requirements (EIR) and project BIM Execution Plans (BEP).
  • Establish systems for clash avoidance, internal model audits and clash detection for project submissions.
  • Evaluate software and hardware needs for project deliverables.
  • Liaise with client and subcontractor BIM Managers to agree processes and resolve issues.
  • Liaise with Bentley representatives to resolve CDE and software issues.

 

BIM development:

  • Define approach to project modelling (2D - 3D), train, develop and support team members.
  • Coordinates the CAD/3D model and established agreed workflows.
  • Ensure that 3D Models and GIS are integrated into both project and company requirements.
  • Develop GIS / 3D modelling (phased plans) / schedule interfaces.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the delivery and management of the project from technical design to construction stage to ensure compliance and delivered to project standards.
  • Responsible for implementing best practice and consistent processes across the project, this includes liaising with project stakeholders and the supply chain to ensure the correct standards are applied.
  • Responsible for quality processes and quality standards of all deliverables, including exchange information and conversion processes.
  • Utilise Bentley ProjectWise with OpenBuilding Designer, and MicroStation for detailed 3D CAD model creation and documentation, ensuring models are fully coordinated and by using clash avoidance tools which are embedded within the digital twin used on the project.
  • Liaise with discipline BIM leads to ensure optimized clash results using suppression rules based on modelling methods.
  • Support the production of high-quality 3D CAD models and detailed construction drawings for specific elements of railway station projects, ensuring integration with overall project information models.
  • Produce model geometry and information in line with the Component Catalogue and outline information within the BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
  • Ensure all models that are submitted, meet the project requirements set out, and Ensure systems are in place for clash avoidance, internal model audits and clash detection before model submission.
  • Support and liaise with the BIM Coordinators, BIM Modellers, and wider project joint venture team in the implementation of deliverables adhering to specified project standards and to facilitate issue resolution.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the project's ProjectWise Common Data Environment, ensuring accurate and timely information flow and adherence to data management standards.
  • Participate in quality assurance checks of to ensure they meet the project's accuracy, detail, and the employers information requirements.
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with the BEP and the supporting project standards, contributing to regular reports on BIM deliverable status.
  • Work closely with all disciplines to ensure the 3D CAD models are integrated and coordinated efficiently, attending regular coordination meetings as necessary.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project team members on BIM-related issues.

 


What do we need from you

Skills and experience:

  • BIM Manager / Senior Coordinator/Technician with at least 10 years’ experience in major infrastructure/transportation projects.
  • Proven capability in managing design interfaces, integration processes, and defining project Digital Strategies.
  • Experience of working in an engineering production environment.
  • A railway, transportation, or construction background.
  • A clear understanding of our multi-disciplinary design approach and the delivery of projects to a high quality, throughout all design stage gates.
  • Good knowledge of UK design standards, such as Network Rail, HS2, and TfL.
  • Experience of Implementing BIM Level 2 Accreditation / Certification to ISO 19650 within a Business Environment.
  • Track record of mobilizing teams to ISO19650 on project kick offs.
  • Experience producing and maintaining BEPs, Task Information Delivery Plans (TIDP), Master Information Delivery Plans (MIDP), and Model Production Delivery Tables (MPDT).
  • Excellent understanding of all relevant BIM standards, design integration procedures and relevant legislation.

  • Knowledge of Dynamo/similar, and ability to write scripts.
  • Experience of working in a Project Coordination role.
  • Excellent leadership skills and mentoring experience.
  • An ability to train and upskill team members.
  • Ability to use modelling and analytical tools to demonstrate reduction and/or elimination of health and safety risks in the design process.
  • Experience of supporting the organisation to build and grow successfully.
