About Us

At Egis, we help shape the infrastructure that keeps communities connected and moving. As a leading global consulting, construction engineering and operating firm, we work with clients across transport, energy and the built environment to create a more balanced, sustainable and resilient world.

With more than 50 years of experience and around 25,500 people in over 70 countries, we combine global expertise with a people-first culture. In the UK and Ireland, our teams deliver and operate some of the country’s most important infrastructure, including highways, rail, energy, water and smart infrastructure, while supporting climate-responsible growth for communities, industry and the planet.

About the Role

We're recruiting an HR Advisor on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role offers a competitive salary and a strong benefits package, and you'll provide practical, people-focused HR support across our Operations & Maintenance business. You'll support teams working on the M25 motorway and Mobiie contracts, helping keep essential infrastructure services running.

As our HR Advisor, sometimes called an HR Adviser or Generalist HR Advisor, you'll be the first point of contact for managers and employees across the employee lifecycle. You'll advise and coach line managers on employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance management and sickness absence. You'll also support formal investigations and hearings, making sure cases are handled fairly, consistently and in line with UK employment law and company policy.

You'll work closely with People Operations, Payroll and the wider HR team. Your work will include onboarding, monthly payroll submissions, visa and right-to-work processes, benefits and offboarding. You'll also keep HR records accurate and produce HR reports, including turnover data and management information.

This is a varied, hands-on generalist HR role in a fast-paced operational environment. It suits an HR professional who enjoys building strong relationships, gives clear and practical advice and wants to make a visible difference over a 12-month contract.

What do we need from you

You'll ideally hold a CIPD Level 5 qualification or have equivalent HR experience. You'll have worked as an HR Advisor, HR Adviser or in a similar generalist HR role, ideally within an operational, multi-site, contract-led or infrastructure environment.

You'll bring hands-on experience of employee relations casework and a solid working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice. You'll be confident coaching managers, interpreting HR policies and recommending proportionate solutions.

You'll also be well organised and accurate, with strong communication and stakeholder management skills and the discretion needed to handle sensitive matters. You should be comfortable using HR systems and Microsoft Office, and experience with Oracle HR would be an advantage.

What's in it for you?

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract. You'll work in a hybrid way, combining home working, office-based work and visits to M25 and Mobiie contract locations. You'll need to be flexible about travelling to sites and offices when the business requires it.

What we offer

Alongside a competitive salary, you'll receive a £3,000 car allowance and 26 days' annual leave, rising to 27 days after one year's service and 28 days after three years. We'll contribute 5% to your pension when you contribute 3%. You'll also receive private medical insurance for you and your family, and life assurance at four times your salary.

You'll join a supportive HR team and gain broad generalist HR experience in a business that delivers essential infrastructure. You'll also have a real chance to improve how managers handle people issues, the employee experience and how consistently people practices are applied.

We are an Equal Opportunities employer and we strive to build a workforce that truly reflects the communities we represent. We welcome candidates from all backgrounds, regardless of age, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, and any other protected characteristic.

If you decide to apply for an opportunity with us, your application will be assessed based purely on your experience, the essential and desirable criteria, and your suitability for the role. We value each and every one’s contribution as this builds our culture and means that if you work with us, you will be included, listened to, and respected.
