About the Role

The M25 is one of our Flagship projects in the UK! It is the most used part of the UK Strategic Road Network with it seeing over 200,000 vehicles per day and it’s a critical infrastructure asset for personal and goods vehicles into and around our capital. The network includes around 800 structures and 5 tunnels, so it requires high levels of performance, constant improvement and repairs to keep it operating smoothly.

We’ve formed a Joint Venture project called Connect Plus Services (CPS) to work with our partners to widen, operate and maintain the M25 under a 30-year contract and we are looking for a Head of Network Operations who'll spearhead the implementation and leadership of the newly established Operations Hub for the M25, seamlessly integrating road space management, planning functions and control room operations.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team, including diversion managers, traffic management specialists, and optimisation experts, ensuring operational efficiency and an enhanced road user experience.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee the creation and operation of the ‘Operations Hub’, ensuring seamless integration of planning, road space, resourcing, and scheduling functions.
  • Identify opportunities for improved accuracy, cost and schedule savings through enhanced planning processes and technology integration.
  • Lead a multidisciplinary team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety, ensuring the team upholds the highest health and wellbeing standards.
  • Lead all control room functions, leveraging real-time data and analytics for informed operational decision-making.
  • Ensure all operational activities align with CPS strategy and business objectives
  • Encourage continuous learning and skill development to enhance team capabilities and performance.
  • Establish clear targets and KPIs for the Operations Hub, regularly tracking and reporting on performance.
  • Manage the operational budget, including cost control, recruitment, and financial forecasting to ensure efficiency and sustainability.
  • Produce high-quality monthly management reports on operational performance, presenting insights to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the Operations Hub in community forums, workshops, and stakeholder meetings, fostering strong relationships and collaboration.
