About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field WAN Lead Engineer to join our team in Doha, Qatar. In this critical role, you will be responsible for leading and managing wide area network (WAN) projects, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability of our organization's WAN infrastructure.
- Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of WAN solutions, including MPLS, SD-WAN, and VPN technologies
- Oversee and coordinate field operations for WAN installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting
- Develop and maintain WAN architecture documentation, including network diagrams and standard operating procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align WAN strategies with business objectives
- Manage and mentor a team of WAN engineers, fostering their professional growth and ensuring high-quality deliverables
- Conduct regular performance assessments and capacity planning to maintain network efficiency
- Implement and maintain robust network security measures to protect against potential threats
- Troubleshoot complex WAN issues and provide timely resolutions
- Stay updated on emerging WAN technologies and industry best practices, recommending improvements as needed
- Liaise with service providers and vendors to ensure optimal WAN performance and support
What do we need from you
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related field
- 7-10 years of experience in WAN engineering, with a proven track record in leading WAN projects and teams
- Advanced knowledge of WAN technologies, including MPLS, SD-WAN, and VPN
- Expert-level understanding of network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, and OSPF
- Strong proficiency in network security principles and best practices
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- In-depth understanding of telecommunications infrastructure
- Knowledge of local and international networking regulations
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Willingness to travel within the region as required
