Experienced Engineering Design Manager - Major Rail Projects (High-speed Rail, Metro, Light Rail) to lead the successful delivery of complex, high-value infrastructure schemes across the UK, Ireland, the Nordics and globally.
You will be responsible for the engineering/design management of large, multidisciplinary project
teams, working on the end-to-end delivery of major capital and engineering/design-led projects, from early concept and consenting through detailed design, construction and handover. You will also play a key role in client engagement and governance, contributing to the continued growth of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver major, complex railway infrastructure projects from inception to completion.
- Manage the engineering/design process, including the interface coordination of large multi-disciplinary teams, including internal resources, consultants, contractors and supply chain partners.
- Set communication guidelines across disciplines to ensure progress and quality in engineering/design solutions, including the use of best practices to create solutions to satisfy client’s needs and requirements.
- Lead technical discussions with clients.
- Act as the client’s senior representative, managing relationships with clients, regulators, statutory bodies and key stakeholders.
- Champion health, safety, environmental, sustainability and customer outcomes, embedding best practice across projects.
- Undertake project and programme reviews to drive continuous improvement and lessons learned.
- Support and lead client engagement.
- Contribute to the professional development of the wider team and the strategic growth of the business.
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Proven track record delivering large-scale, complex construction and/or engineering/design-led rail infrastructure projects (high-speed rail, metro, light rail).
- Experience managing and directing large project teams (often 100+ people), both insourced and outsourced.
- Demonstrable experience delivering to demanding schedules, targets and quality standards.
