We're looking for a hands-on Energy Auditor with building condition assessment experience to join our energy consulting team. This role manages energy auditing and building condition assessment projects end-to-end, from initial site visit and field data collection through final report delivery, for commercial and institutional clients across the Lower Mainland and BC.
The ideal candidate will conduct energy audits, assess building systems and envelope conditions, analyze utility and BAS data, and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations that help clients cut energy costs and meet decarbonization targets.
Responsibilities:
- Author Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 energy audit reports for commercial and institutional buildings
- Conduct building condition assessments (BCA), evaluating mechanical, electrical, and envelope systems
- Perform site visits and field data collection, including building operator interviews and walkthroughs
- Access and interpret building automation system (BAS) data- trends, points, schedules, alarms- to identify control and performance issues
- Analyze utility bills and consumption data to benchmark building performance
- Build whole-building energy simulations and ECM-specific models (eQuest, RETScreen, EnergyPlus, or similar) to quantify retrofit savings potential
- Develop measurement and verification (M&V) plans for implemented energy conservation measures
- Support renewable energy feasibility studies
- Prepare technical documentation, RFPs, and reports that support incentive applications and program requirements
- Coordinate directly with building operators, contractors, and stakeholders on retrofit scope and timelines
- Identify and pursue new energy auditing business opportunities, including prospecting potential clients, responding to RFPs, and building relationships with property managers, building owners, and facility teams
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) designation, or actively pursuing
- Professional Engineer (PEng) license or in-progress application
- Diploma or degree in mechanical, electrical, or energy-related engineering, or equivalent practical experience
- 5+ years conducting energy audits (Level 1–3) and/or building condition assessments for commercial or institutional properties
- Working knowledge of building automation systems and HVAC diagnostics
- Proficiency with energy modelling software (e.g., RETScreen, eQuest, EnergyPlus, HOT2000)
- Familiarity with utility and energy data analysis
- Strong technical writing skills- you can turn field data into a clear, client-ready report
- Comfortable working independently on-site and coordinating with building operators
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to client sites within the region
- Ability to pursue business development opportunities
Additional assets:
- Experience with solar PV feasibility tools (SAM, PVsyst, Aurora Solar, HelioScope)
- Exposure to demand response programs (e.g., IESO Save on Energy, BC Hydro programs)
- Experience with SCADA/PLC systems or industrial energy projects
