As a skilled Electrical Design Engineer with expertise in Medium Voltage (MV) systems, you will lead the design and specification of electrical infrastructure for the client's industrial development projects. Your role is vital for ensuring that all electrical networks are safe, reliable, and compliant with national and international standards.
Core Responsibilities
Lead the design, development, and specification of electrical systems for new and existing infrastructure projects, with a primary focus on medium voltage (MV) networks.
Perform conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design of MV distribution systems, substations, switchgear, transformers, power cabling, and associated protective relaying and control systems.
Develop comprehensive single-line diagrams, schematic diagrams, electrical layouts, and detailed equipment specifications for medium voltage components and systems.
Conduct essential electrical analyses, including load calculations, voltage drop analyses, short circuit studies, and protective device coordination studies, to ensure system reliability and safety.
Ensure all electrical designs comply with the client's requirements, relevant national (e.g., SEC standards) and international electrical codes, and industry best practices.
Utilize specialized electrical design software for modeling, simulation, and producing design deliverables.
Prepare detailed engineering drawings, technical specifications, and a comprehensive Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for all electrical works, including MV components.
Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines (Civil, MEP, Mechanical, etc.) to ensure integrated and coordinated designs, proactively identifying and resolving potential clashes.
Provide technical guidance and support to on-site supervision teams, which includes reviewing contractor submittals (shop drawings, material approvals, test procedures) and resolving design-related issues during construction.
Contribute to detailed project reports covering design progress, compliance, and technical specifications.
- Specialized Experience: You should have extensive experience in electrical design processes, including a thorough understanding of approved design procedures, specifications, and relevant industry standards for MV systems.
Technical Proficiency: The role requires proven ability in performing advanced electrical calculations and analysis, as well as proficiency with specialized electrical design and CAD software.
Power Systems Knowledge: A strong understanding of power system protection principles and equipment is highly valued.
Communication: Excellent communication skills are essential for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and for presenting design solutions clearly.
Regulatory Familiarity: Experience with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) standards and regulations (or similar national utility standards) is a significant advantage.
