Egis is seeking an Electrical Engineer – MEP with 3–5 years of relevant experience to join our growing Electrical and MEP team in Canada.
The successful candidate will support the design and delivery of electrical building systems across a variety of commercial, institutional, transportation, aviation and other building and facility projects.
Working under the direction of senior engineers and the MEP Electrical Team Lead, this position will be involved throughout the project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through construction and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
Electrical Design & Engineering
- Support the design and development of electrical systems for MEP and building projects.
- Perform electrical load calculations and assist with sizing of electrical services, transformers, generators, switchgear, panelboards, feeders and branch circuits.
- Design and develop low-voltage power distribution systems.
- Prepare and develop electrical single-line diagrams, equipment layouts, panel schedules and electrical distribution drawings.
- Design lighting and lighting control systems, including lighting calculations and emergency lighting.
- Design receptacle, small-power and equipment connection systems.
- Support the design of emergency and standby power systems, UPS systems, grounding and bonding, and lightning protection systems.
- Assist with fire alarm, communications, security and other low-voltage/ELV systems where applicable.
- Perform voltage-drop, feeder and cable-sizing calculations and support short-circuit and coordination studies.
- Prepare electrical engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications and design documentation.
- Assist with equipment selection and preparation of technical schedules and datasheets.
MEP & Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, architectural, structural, civil and other engineering disciplines.
- Coordinate electrical requirements for HVAC equipment, pumps, mechanical systems and other building equipment.
- Participate in multidisciplinary BIM and design coordination.
- Review architectural and mechanical drawings to identify electrical requirements and potential design conflicts.
- Support coordination of electrical equipment locations, service spaces, routing and constructability requirements.
- Participate in design meetings and interdisciplinary coordination reviews.
BIM & Drawing Development
- Develop and maintain electrical design drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.
- Support BIM-based multidisciplinary project delivery and model coordination.
- Coordinate electrical model content with other disciplines.
- Assist in developing electrical details, schedules and standard design content.
- Work with BIM designers and technicians to produce coordinated and high-quality construction documents.
Construction Support
- Assist with review of shop drawings and equipment submittals.
- Support responses to RFIs and contractor technical questions.
- Participate in site investigations and field reviews.
- Assist with preparation of site instructions, contemplated changes and other construction documentation.
- Support testing, commissioning and project closeout activities.
- Review field conditions and assist senior engineers with resolving construction issues.
Quality & Professional Development
- Prepare engineering work in accordance with Egis QA/QC procedures and applicable engineering standards.
- Participate in technical and interdisciplinary design reviews.
- Maintain knowledge of applicable codes, standards and emerging technologies.
- Work closely with senior engineers and technical leads to develop engineering judgment and technical capability.
- Participate in internal knowledge-sharing and lessons-learned initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or recognized engineering program.
- 3–5 years of relevant electrical engineering experience, preferably within an MEP engineering consulting environment.
- Experience with Revit MEP and BIM-based project delivery.
- Experience with electrical design for MEP, buildings or facilities.
- Working knowledge of electrical power distribution and building electrical systems.
- Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and applicable building codes and standards.
- Experience preparing electrical drawings, calculations and technical documentation.
- Experience coordinating electrical systems with architectural and mechanical disciplines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities while maintaining attention to technical quality.
Preferred / Assets
- Progress toward obtaining a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation.
- Previous Canadian consulting engineering experience.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- Experience with ETAP, EasyPower, SKM or similar electrical analysis software.
- Experience with AGi32, ElumTools, DIALux or similar lighting-design software.
- Experience with fire alarm, communications, security or other building low-voltage systems.
- Experience supporting projects during construction.
- Experience with commercial, institutional, transportation, aviation, industrial or other complex building projects.
- Exposure to sustainable building design, electrification, EV charging, renewable energy or low-carbon building strategies.
