The Deputy Program Director will support the Program Director in managing and overseeing a portfolio of strategic aviation projects across multiple locations. This role is integral to ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, aligned with organizational objectives, and meet the highest standards in cost, quality, and schedule. The Deputy Program Director will work closely with the PMO, external consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution and contribute to achieving strategic goals.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Program Director in managing the full lifecycle of design and construction projects, from initiation through planning, execution, and closeout.
- Ensure all projects are integrated and aligned with strategic priorities and governance frameworks.
- Monitor project progress, addressing challenges, and providing solutions to ensure timely and within-budget delivery.
- Contribute to the preparation and execution of a rolling multi-year project portfolio plan, ensuring alignment with capital expenditure strategies.
- Collaborate with planning teams to evaluate project feasibility and implementation strategies in line with organizational objectives.
- Provide guidance and oversight for project design, ensuring adherence to international standards and applicable codes.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary reviews, value engineering assessments, and technical evaluations to optimize project outcomes.
- Support the development and enforcement of engineering standards and specifications.
- Supervise project management consultants (PMCs) and ensure that all contractors and consultants comply with established processes and procedures.
- Develop and oversee reporting mechanisms to track project milestones, risks, and deliverables.
- Provide recommendations for improving project delivery timelines and cost efficiencies.
- Implement a robust risk management system, identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Foster collaboration among internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive initiatives to enhance efficiency and standardization in project management processes and practices.
- Support the development and implementation of training and professional development programs for the project team.
- Lead efforts to incorporate lessons learned and best practices into ongoing and future projects.
- Promote sustainability principles, ensuring environmental considerations are integrated into all phases of the projects.
- Oversee compliance with environmental impact assessments and guide the implementation of sustainability initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Project Management, Construction Management, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- At least 15 years of experience managing large-scale airport projects, with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
- Proven expertise in aviation project lifecycle management, strategic planning, and technical oversight.
- Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams and foster collaboration across diverse stakeholders.
- Skilled in aligning project outcomes with organizational goals and managing complex portfolios.
- In-depth knowledge of project management methodologies, engineering standards, and risk management practices.
- Ability to interpret data, develop actionable insights, and drive informed decision-making.
- Adept at managing change and navigating challenges in dynamic, high-pressure environments.
