Egis with its local partner (together called METAV) have been appointed as Network Manager, to work closely with the client in managing the planning, design and construction of 3 new underground metro lines in Tel Aviv. The 3 new metro lines will total 150km fully underground and 109 underground metro stations to serve 24 municipalities. Key figures:
- First stage Operational in 2034.
- Estimated 2 million passengers per day will benefit from the new metro network.
- €50bn estimated cost.
- Benefits to Tel Aviv: 30% increase in public transport use and €8bn in economic benefits to the local economy.
Egis is hiring a Structures Expert for Depot and Station Oversite Development works to join the METAV team which has a key role in the design and planning of the entire metro network across all disciplines. This is a unique opportunity to deliver a major project across all phases: design, construction until operation.
- Serve as the Programme’s technical and professional expert for depot buildings and station oversite development works on behalf of the Owner in the development of design.
- Provide technical evaluation of the designs developed by the Line Managers and others, identifying the suitability of the solutions proposed and any alternatives, cost/schedule implications and risks/opportunities.
- Ensure alignment of the civil/structural aspects of the programme with Operations & Maintenance and Railway System requirements.
- Responsible for the maintenance of the Civil & Structural aspects of the manual of design standards and criteria (MDSM), based on international engineering best practices and with reference to the Owner’s existing DSM, all applicable Laws, the applicable design standards in force in Israel and applicable international design standards
- Responsible for the maintenance of the Civil & Structural aspects of the “design task guide”
- Monitor the implementation of and adherence to the MDSM, the Design Management Procedures and Design Task Guide by the Line Managers, the Network designers, the Line designers and all other Programme participants.
The candidate should be/have:
- Senior engineer with at least 15 years’ experience in major infrastructure/transportation projects, especially urban mass-transit schemes.
- Experience in the design, construction and/or supervision of underground mass-transit structures including depot buildings, Control Centres and oversite developments, etc.
- Involvement throughout project lifecycle is desirable, but especially in the early stages of project development, including option identification / evaluation and value engineering.
- Experience of working from the Client’s perspective or in an advisory / consulting role is highly desirable.
- Masters or Bachelors degree in civil or structural engineering.
