About Us

Egis Road and Tunnel Operation Ireland (ERTO) is an Irish company established in 2005 and is part of Egis Projects Ireland. We manage Dublin Tunnel, Jack Lynch Tunnel in Cork and the Motorway Traffic Control Centre (MTCC) for Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII). 

The contract for the OMTTCC project primarily involves the operation, maintenance, and management of critical tunnel and motorway infrastructure, ensuring safety, reliability, and sustainability throughout the asset's lifecycle. ERTO serves as the contractor, responsible for delivering comprehensive services including routine and preventive maintenance, asset renewals, and upgrades, in alignment with health, safety, and environmental standards. ERTO plays a key role in coordinating with stakeholders, ensuring compliance with ISO-certified management systems, managing risks, optimizing asset performance, and implementing sustainability initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of operations. Additionally, ERTO oversees the safety documentation, change control processes, and ensures that all activities align with Transport Infrastructure Ireland’s (TII) goals for efficiency, resilience, and sustainability.

We are located in the Dublin Tunnel Control Building on East Wall Road, Dublin 3. The position’s holder is responsible towards compliance with the three Codes of Ethics, Integrity and Human Resources Management Code, internal rules, all local regulations and Health & Safety rules that apply in for the Egis Road and Tunnel Operation activities.


About the Role

As a Motorway Control Room Operator, and part of a team you'll monitor and manage traffic across the TII motorway and national road network. Your vigilance and quick response will ensure the well-being of drivers and the seamless flow of traffic

RESPONSIBILITIES & MAIN ACTIVITIES:

  • Swiftly react to incidents, accidents, and emergencies on the motorway network.
  • Utilise cutting-edge technology to identify, analyse, and regulate traffic patterns and incidents.
  • Collaborate with emergency services, contractors, and stakeholders for a prompt and effective response to any situation.
  • Deliver concise, precise instructions to drivers using various communication tools, such as variable message signs and social media.
  • Coordinate with other control centres to effectively address incidents impacting multiple roadways.
  • Maintain accurate incident logs and prepare comprehensive reports as part of your administrative duties.
  • Regularly inspect equipment and systems to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Foster smooth and secure traffic movement through effective communication with team members, road users, and stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Keen attention to detail and a strong sense of motivation.
  • Familiarity with advanced traffic management technology is advantageous.
  • Exceptional communication skills to provide clear instructions and updates.
  • Ability to collaborate and coordinate with diverse stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong organisational abilities to manage incident logs and reports.
  • Prior experience in a control room or traffic management role is beneficial.
